I run in my pack with distant from everyone. She had noticed Cheveyo; eyolfs sister, was sitting out next to brock; who was rather close himself. She nearly panicked, but calmed down as soon as he had brought the young she wolf to him. "Corra? What is happening?" she heard the small words tremble out. Equally frightened like her brothers. She wasn't sure how she would explain that Mors was dead. "Well... Mors isn't in this pack anymore..." she chocked on the last bit, but we still need a leader... And that is what they are doing... Fighting for the title..." she finished up her quick explanation then turned her attention back to the fight.
Maybe one day I won't be so alone.

Ayria had been here only a couple days, and yet so much had happened that her life before becoming a member of the southern pack seemed an entire lifetime away. It was pleasant at first, finally being part of a pack and learning their rules and customs, but the joy was interrupted by sorrow when the alpha died. She wasn't quite as devastated as the others. She had been a loner until very recently and - if she must - she still remembered how to survive. There was also the fact that she hadn't had time to get to know the old alpha, so while the grief was present, it wasn't intense.
Like the others, sleep didn't come for Ayria. The worry and sadness in the pack was so thick that one did not need to be n empath to sense it. She held particular worry for the three pups. No doubt they would be taken care of, no matter what happened to the pack. Still, they would be vulnerable in this time. For their sake as well as the other wolves, the pack had to hold together and find a new leader soon.
Commotion from outside made her ears prick up, and she heard one of the wolves - Kairos, if she remembered right - declaring himself the new alpha of the pack. Curious, she stepped out of the den. She sat for a while, watching the others and ignoring the storm that fell around the pack. It seemed at first like the matter was settled, but then another wolf - Syrus, it seemed. A newcomer like her - challenged Kairos for the position. The storm worsened as the two began their fight, showing off some of their gifts right from the beginning.
This would be interesting...hopefully, they could decide a winner before anyone was seriously injured.
Ayria padded over to Corra and the pups, sitting near them with her wings spread to shield them as much as possible from the rain. She kept her gaze on the battle. She was a healer and wanted to be ready to act the second the fight ended, just in case.

The fight turned into a battle of pure strength. With each wolf grabbing at each other’s ruff, they wrestled and pulled in order to pull the other of his feet. It was at this point that Kairos’ age and experience came to his aid, and in a quick movement Syrus was down. Kairos stood over him with fangs bared and saliva dripping down, ready to pounce should Syrus ask for more. But instead the dark male wolf whimpered and crawled up to a stand. With his tail tucked between his legs, Syrus backed away. Kairos stepped toward him with a throaty growl, and it was then that Syrus turned and leapt away into the forest. Kairos didn’t have to chase after him; he knew Syrus would not return.
It was over. Kairos realized that he was short of breath, so he took a moment to get it back. His fur was soaked in rain and mud, but when Kairos turned back to the crowd, one could see triumph shining bright in his eyes. He had won the position he had coveted for years, and in taking his brother’s place, something just felt right.
He was carrying on the family legacy.
Kairos’ eyes met with Corra’s. He expected to see pride glowing in her eyes, but instead, something akin to disappointment lingered in those amber orbs. Kairos was confused; wasn’t she happy to have her love be the alpha? Wasn’t she glad to have an opportunity to be alphess? Ignoring the many pairs of eyes watching him, Kairos stepped towards Corra, the adrenaline draining from his body. “Corra, what’s a matter?” he asked, dreading her answer, whatever it might be.

I run in my pack with distant from everyone. She watched as Kiaros and syrus fought for the title. For a while, it seemed syrus was overpowering Kiaros. Her body felt at ease, but her body language showed worry for Kiaros. Just as she seemed it was over, her eyes opened wide. Kiaros had grown a strength and began to fight back and control the fight. He was winning, he was going to become the alpha of the pack.
Her eyes flinched as she saw syrus run. It was all over, Kiaros had won. She dropped her gaze as he had noticed her dissapointment. She didn't want for this to ruin his moment. He had wanted this power since the beginning, at least from the stories she had been told... More or less easvedropped. He had questioned her, which is what she didn't want for him to do. She was afraid her answer would be the end of their freshly sparked interested in each other. "Congratulations Kiaros... I'm happy for you!" she smiled up at him, hoping this would avoid her answer. She had a feeling if he were alpha, he would want her to be his alphess, considering how close they've grown since his arrival. But she knew herself she wasn't ready to lead a pack, and she wasn't going to force the leadership.
Shr realized it would be now or never, she would have to tell him. She couldn't bare the thought of her new love to move on. Her eyes switched from a fake happiness to a distant, sad stare. She wasn't sure how she would bring about this, but she had to. Finding the words to say was difficult, "Kiaros... If you become alpha... You need an alphess. Something tells me, it would be me... But... I can't do it..." she broke her gaze from him, but reluctantly brought it back, "Im not ready to do it, so much rides on the alpha couple, and I'm sure I'm not fit enough to uphold those duties, at least not yet..." she fixed her expression. Not so much sad, but a more lighter] happy smile. This was his moment, and it shouldn't be ruined by her. "This is your time now, I may not be by your side, but I will still be here..." her voice was obviously full of trouble. She didn't want to give him to another, call her the jealous type, but it's true.
Maybe one day I won't be so alone.

Brock watched from his seat beside Corra until the battle was finally over. Syrus just did not have the senority and knowlage to take the thrown from the older and more powerful Kairos. But as Syrus ran, with tail tuck between legs, he could sense a new tension in the air around him.
Privacy was what the couple needed now, and as Kairos walked to Corra the male walked off to the side, closer to sit beside Ayria. He liked the new female. She had a very caring side, making her seem very delicate, but at the same time elegant and powerful. The she-wolf was nearly half his age but her mature personality seem almost opposite to his. Brock was more of a strong and silent male, always pushing his limits to reach the rewards he knew were there and he wanted. The male would work hard to get what he wanted and didn't like to take charity. That was why he had been made Beta at such a young age by the late and great Mors.
Before though he had felt satisfied with his position. The male still felt satisfied with it now. But truth was, Brock did not what to end up like Mors had. He wanted what Kairos had. Brock was lonelier than Mors had ever been. Even though the older male had been something of a father figure to him, Mors had never taken a mate or had pups. Now Brock debated with himself. Was a companion what he really wanted? Not just another animal like Aziz but another wolf? Another female wolf. As Brock looked at Kairos and Corra and what they had.He was jelous.
But maybe fate was only a step away in the wings and heart of the female he sat next to. Brock could not decifer those feelings as well as a human could but he did know he liked this female. Maybe it was time to get to know Ayria a little better...
His ears pricked ever so slightly though and his mind figured it could wait for just a little longer. Drama was brewing in a few words. Corra did not want to be alphess. This deeply surprised him, before she had always seemed so perfect for the spot. Now she refused the position.
At least she was honest.

”Congratulations, Kairos… I’m happy for you!” Kairos ignored the statement, for he knew that something troubled Corra, something that she was reluctant to talk about. But Kairos waited in silence, sensing that she was working up the courage to say whatever nagged on her conscience. At last it came. A confused look washed over Kairos’ face, for he could not understand the reaons behind her misgivings. “But, Corra…” Kairos trailed off. From the determined look on Corra’s face she was not about to change her mind. Yet there was also another emotion swirling in those distinct eyes, and Kairos realized that she still wanted him. And then Kairos knew that he wanted her, too, and he would never be satisfied without her kinship. Not even if he was alpha.
“No.” He spoke loudly and resolutely so that all could hear. “I may have earned the throne, but I cannot keep it.” Kairos then bowed his head and whispered in Corra’s ear, “I want to be with you.” He came and sat by her side, releasing a tired sigh as he did so. It had been a long and stressful few days – so far nothing had gone according to plan, but Kairos could not decide whether it was for the better or for the worse. I need a nap, he mumbled to himself. He could only hope that there would be someone worthy of taking his place, someone with the brains and the experience to run the pack.

| Yowling, yapping and all the other words for talking was happening right now. Eyolf was thankful his sister was here and he had sidled right up against her as the fight has entered it's final stage. In the end, like a coward, Syrus had run off. If he thought about it, Eyolf was sourly disappointed in Syrus, he hadn't even stood his ground! But done was done. Still fairly frightened at the uncertainty of he and his siblings future, and the rest of the pack's, Eyolf whimpered slightly. Kairos had won, that was obvious, even for a four month old pup. Kairos than started to talk to Corra. Eyolf crinkled up his nose and squinted his brown eyes. It was obvious he didn't like whatever he thought it was.
Ewww... lovey dovey stuff... Eyolf watched as Kairos looked what he thought was bit downcast, than as the winner of the fight backed down and yielded the position. Eyolf cocked his head in wonder, his eyes big. Why did he forfeit such an important thing he won fairly? Than his nose crinkled again, maybe it was the lovey dovey stuff. Who knew, not him! Eyolf was not hit by the rain anymore as the wolf by the name Aryia shielded him and Cheveyo with her wings from the wet stuff, but from the noise he knew the rain storm was coming to an end, revealing the black night once again. Eyolf looked at Brock who had a sort of thoughtful look to him at the moment. Eyolf knew that Brock was Beta and second only to the alpha/ess, and since Kairos had given it up...
I wonder if Brock would be alpha, that wouldn't be bad, Brock's nice! Well... ya nice! Soon his curiosity got the better of the tired little pup. Yawning, tired from staying up late, the events of the night, his travels and from using his powers, Eyolf decided he had nothing to lose by asking Brock something. Crawling up to Brock the beta, Eyolf looked up adorable as could be for a pup. "Brock... are you gonna be alpha now? Since Kairos went lovey-dovey?" - the Shape-shifter asked Brock. Eyolf simply scratched himself and yawned again, only emphasizing he couldn't wait very long for a reply before falling asleep.
Tired... Yawn...

"Brock... are you gonna be alpha now? Since Kairos went lovey-dovey?"
The last part made Brock chuckle inside. But the pup's question was, even though it was quite un-meaning to, dead serious to him. For a few moments the brown male was a loss for words in the sense of what to say. Could he handle taking on this pack? Or for that matter, his pack? The male had practically been raised here. Brock had lived with the Southerners since he turned two and had seen wolves, noble and not, live and die here. He felt as if he could truly take it on if he had the right Beta and, perhaps, a mate.
As he looked to the pup he then stood, tail raised ever so slightly, and spoke loud and clear enough so that his voice rose over the sound of the rain that slowly splattered down,"As Kairos steps down I am next in line. Therefor I would like to, If there are no objections to me, take his and Mors's place as Alpha male of the Southern Pack." He stood solidly the feeling of all eyes upon him through the rain. Brock looked around questioning the faces of his pack members, they had been to hell and back in the past few days. One leader dead and an outsider challenging for the thrown. When Syrus left then Kairos decided to follow his heart instead, what Brock wanted to do soon in the future.
'This could be the best thing for me. This could be right for the pack. This could be peace at hand. Or it could be a brand new time for me to screw things up.' Brock was nervous, more than anything, that they would not accept him for their leader. But fear did not show through his eyes, he would defiantly not make the position that way. If they accepted him, he suddenly thought, then there would be need for a beta.

Ayria watched as the two combatants wrestled, and - sooner than she would have thought - Kairos started to gain the upper paw. In no time at all, Syrus was down and then out, never to return from the looks of things. She was sad to see him go, but now there were other concerns...like getting the pack back in order.
Except, things weren't going the way she expected. Kairos and Corra were talking now, and things...weren't as happy as they should be. She turned away from the two, not wanting to listen in on what should probably be a private conversation. Instead, she welcomed the distraction of Brock sitting beside her.
As he had come to like her, Ayria had come to like the older male. He had a bit of a sarcastic streak, but after getting past that she found him to be a sweet, intelligent wolf that was pleasant to be around. He seemed like a responsible, respectable male as well- not just from her own few experiences with him but from the fact that he had been trusted enough to be granted the position of beta.
And that reminded her...would he be able to keep his position after all this? Would Kairos keep the pack the way his brother had had it, or would he make changes?
Then, the would-be alpha answered her question, but not in the way she expected it. He was giving up leadership. Leadership that he had fought hard for. Ayria glanced between Kairos and Corra, and thought she understood. The two were close. Mates, perhaps? Anyway, she could respect his decision. If she was in that situation, she liked to think that she would have done the same.
But...who would be alpha now? There were no more takers for the position, it seemed.
Then the thought hit her: Brock was currently the highest-ranking wolf in the pack. It would be a natural move for him to become alpha.
Then one of the pups voices her thoughts, and Brock answered by claiming the position. He would be best, in her opinion. He was respected and had some leadership experience from his higher rank. With him as the new alpha, surely the other members of the pack would feel secure.
Brock seemed nervous, and Ayria edged closer to him, giving him an encouraging smile. She had no doubt he would make a fine leader. Leaning toward him, she whispered, "I'll help out where I can."

I run in my pack with distant from everyone. She felt horrible inside, she knew he had wanted this position. And now she brought it down for him. The pack had been through ridged times the past few days, a leader was needed. He won his right officially. But turned it down because of her. And brock had decided to take the position because he was next in line. When he ask if any one thought he should, she almost spoke up. But she didn't...
She turned her head, behind her was the nearest den. He was tired, she knew that before he had even said it. She stepped lightly around the pups that took refuge around her legs. And off to the pack den she went, waiting for Kiaros to arrive, well she hoped he would. She felt she needed to explain her decline for alphess.
Maybe one day I won't be so alone.

With the rush of the fight long-gone and the celebration he had expected non-existent, Kairos felt nothing but weariness - all the way down to the marrow of his bones. Through the rain he still looked at Corra, the she-wolf he had given up his pride and success for. Kairos heard Brock announce something, and he knew that the debate was over. But Kairos' mind was still whirling.
Corra must have noticed his fatigue, for she slipped away from the muddied clearing and vanished into a nearby den. From the look she gave him before she went, Kairos knew that he was to follow. For a moment he could not move, his body frozen in time; and then his muscles started up again, and he followed in slow-motion. Escaping from the hustle and bustle outside, Kairos welcomed the darkness that enfolded him.
Blinking and glancing around, he saw Corra's eyes gleaming in the darkness. Kairos wondered if he was finally ready to settle down with a she-wolf, instead of jumping from one quick thrill to the next. Had he made the right decision? Was Corra really the one?

Well was that the end of the dissicison? Now was he alpha?
It looked to be that way since no argument was brought up agianst him and his thoughts. In fact Ayria and little Cheveyo even seemed welcoming to the thought of his leadership. This could lead to something new and bright for the male that had been stuck in his own little wonderland only a fewdays before when old Mors was still around. But now he was leading the pack and he refused to live with regrets as he felt like Mors had left the world with.
'I'll helpout where I can.' The brown male liked the idea of Ayria being around. A new calmity came over Brock when the female spoke, her voice silky smooth and sweet just like honey. He hoped to get to know her more if he was lucky. He whispered with a smile on his lips a quick thank you as the small female pup behind him nipped on his tail.
A stern look for him was all it took to send Cheveyo off in a bundle of giggles. It seemed like the pup's world was so much smaller and happier, although quick to change from better to worse or from worse to better. Either way a pup was the carefree side of a wolf and was the direct reason the adults would fight so hard to protect the small balls of fluff. It was a longing every adult had, to be a pup agian, and experience the world in their carefree and worryless ways.
He turned back to Ayria, although she wouldn't be able to see it through his fur, he was blushing and chuckled almost nervously. Aziz had been around him just long enough to see even from his perch under the old oak that the male was quite interested in the younger female.
"I would deffinalty like your help Ayria, I have a feeling I'll need it."

Things were winding down now that the storm was fading and a new leader had been decided upon. It was a relief for many of the wolves, it seemed, though Ayria sadness as well. Sadness for Syrus, who had left the pack, and also for Kairos and Corra. She hoped that everything would work out for all the wolves involved. Perhaps Syrus could find a new pack to become the proud alpha of, and Kairos and Corra would work something out within this pack that would make both parties happy. Perhaps if Kairos were to be made beta…but that would be Brock’s decision, and would require Kairos’s and Corra’s consent. Either way, a new beta would need to be decided on sometime. Not tonight, however. Tonight was eventful enough on it’s own.
The new alpha accepted her offer of help, and she wagged her tail. Even with the recent events, she had high hopes for the pack. They were strong. They would survive now under Brock’s leadership. Not only that, she felt hope for herself. Being in the pack felt right. Part of her would always miss her former packs and companions, but this was where she belonged, and nothing convinced her of that more than this very moment.
This place…this was home.
“It would do us all some good to rest soon,” she suggested. “Any major decisions can wait until morning. I do believe everyone’s had enough excitement for one night.”
