Not too far away, but far enough for the hunt not to be disrupted, sat a regal looking black she-wolf with four young pups yipping and prancing around beneath the overlook she sat on. Their play was gleeful and cheery, little did they pay attention to what they needed to. Too young, they were, to pay much attention to anything and it would be a few more weeks until they really wanted to. She didn't seem to give much of a crap either, her job was to protect the pup, provide her services as a nanny instead of a skilled huntress. So she sang the old songs she remembered being taught as a pup. Corra had taught her many of them before she had dissappeared, and they had been put to good use. The pups knew they were safe when she was singing above them during these hunts.
Her voice was perfect, made that way by only god knows what. But her voice was a gift, passed down from both her mother and father, making hers only stronger than either of theirs. It was what Corra had called an Enchantment. Only passed down now, and never aquired. Cheveyo had never considered it a real skill until now, when the pups would sometimes sit perplexed by her musical skills, or fall asleep at her feet to the sound of her songs. It seemed to her that she was around them more than the alphess was herself sometimes. It was hard not to get tired of never fading energy of the troublesome four, but the music helped.
It wouldn't take very long for the adults to kill one of the helpless elkryn below, and she welcomed a feast. It only took her a moment to think of a song, one that could bless the kill, and wouldn't scare the pups. In reality, the song scared her a tad. It was only when she realised what the lyrics were saying, and how sick they actually made her feel. Hunting was not her favorite thing to do, hence the reason she was stuck as nursemaid of the day. So there she sat. The female sat up tall, her bangs slightly covering part of her face, her tail wrapped to the side, a chin held high and eyes keeping watch over both the pups and the hunt folding out before them. Words flowed elegantly out of her mouth. Enchanting, her voice really was.
Come away little loss. Come away to the water; to the ones that are waiting only for you. Come away little loss. Come away to the water; away from the life that you always knew. We are calling, to you. Come away little light, come away to the darkness. In the shade of the night we’ll come looking for you. Come away little light, come away to the darkness. To the ones appointed to see it through. We are calling for you. We are coming for you.
Come away little lamb. Come away to the water. Give yourself so we might live anew. Come away little lamb. Come away to the slaughter. To the ones appointed to see this through. We are calling for you. We are coming for you. Come away little lamb; come away to the water. To the arms that are waiting only for you. Come away little lamb; come away to the slaughter. To the one appointed to see this through. We are calling for you. We are coming for you. We are coming for you. We are coming for you. *Pups please post, we want to get the little Southerners active! Anything that happens on top of the rock, your really don't notice! Your too busy playing. *Also, If you want to join this thread, if your a eligable male, your more than welcome to. Otherwise please ask. Chevy needs to find a partner eventually, and this could be a good time. Your can be from ANY pack or place. Even a Northerner.

((Isn't that power playing? :-P I'll go along with it though because you're right. XD Definitely not gonna be able to match post length, though. Sorry.))
Lyssenta stalked through the grass, hot on the trail of what was possibly the largest beetle se had ever seen. She didn't know why, but she felt driven to hunt the insect, just as she felt driven to try and hunt anything smaller than her...which wasn't much, really, and it excluded the flying squirrel sitting nearby, watching the wolves. Her mother had taught her from the very beginning that she must never go after that particular creature, and that it - Almond, Mommy called it - was special, like the bird that hung around Daddy.
The beetle must have noticed her, because it opened its wings and flew off. She let out a snort of frustration and looked around for her next target.

A quiet giggle greeted Lyssenta, her brother kale sitting a slight distance away. "Sorry Sissy, maybe next time." he teased, falling down onto his front paws, wings stretched wide (for a pup.) "Why don't you leave it alone, and come play with me instead? You can't hurt me too bad." He ducked and wove around her, tail wagging furiously at her. "Maybe you and me should make up an adventure! I don't think Cheveyo would mind, so long as she can still see us." His golden gaze rose, watching the female above them. "And there's not much we can do anyway. Dinner is on the way!"
(I fell short too. ;~;)

| Attempting another extremely high pitched howl, little Sowilo, with her shining golden marked legs, face, back and wings, looked as bright as the sun she was named after. Ceasing her yips and yowls, the happy tiny pup stood, shaking and her tongue lolled out, panting. She turned to look at her sister Lyssenta who seemed intent on finding something. Grinning like the mischievous pup she was, the keen-sighted pup ran up nipped her sisters ears, laughing. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed her brother Kale, but didn't think anything of it. She turned and looked at Kale and Lyssenta and stuck out her tongue, her sun-like eyes dancing with amusement.
Hehehe!

[bg=SaddleBrown] | [bg=Sienna]His wispy cinnamon fur, striped in green blew with the natural wind of the day, as he considered the choice. Lumescentii had stalked the perimeter of the Southern territory and the nearby lands close to the border for several days now. The lone male had not seen hide nor tail of a wolf for months, perhaps up to a year now. He would relish the chance of meeting and greeting another wolf, his natural instinct and own extroverted nature willing him to. Lumescentii lifted one large, clawed paw to take a step forward, but then cringed and hesitated. When he was a pup and before he had left his homelands, he would've done this with little care, his impulsive nature getting the better of himself. But he had learned better now. Crossing into territory that was already inhabited and not your own was far to often a fatal mistake. His eyes flashed with sad remembrance as he remembered in his natal pack how the lead healer had went off and taken to mate an older female of the other, enemy pack, crossing into another territory without heed, for love.
Kiyuwenta, that was your most foolish mistake... Hopeless as the situation seemed, Lumescentii was never one to hesitate for long. He knew from rather old scent marks that this pack had accepted loners and vagabonds before, perhaps he would have the same luck? A great big, classic cheesy smile appeared on his face, a typical Lumescentii thing to do. He would just have to summon some of his usual boldness up. Bright blue eyes stared fervently and determinedly ahead as Lumescentii lifted his head high and with cautious optimism entered Southern territory. As he walked with strong, large strides, his wooden necklace beat against his chest, the one that told of his abilities. As he approached, Lumescentii's trained ears swiveled and perked up to catch some of the sweetest of noises he had heard in his life. Closing his eyes, a shiver went from his claws to the tips of the slightest feathers of his snow white wings. He stopped to take in the music in its entirety, recognizing the tune from his own childhood, and his whole body swayed slightly to the melody.
The sweetest of voices, singing of death, how ironic! Opening his soulful, brilliant blue eyes slowly, he unwillingly sat down on his haunches, shocked and startled in amazement. Finally coming to his senses, he shook himself, and stood, realizing he was now deep within Southerner territory. He would've grimaced, but he did not. Sniffing the air, he sensed a young, nearly grown female, perhaps the owner of the voice, and close by... four tiny pups. Common sense told him she could not possibly be the mother, for she was slightly too young... babysitter perhaps? He knew that if he revealed himself, a full grown, strange wolf in the heart of her pack's land, and near the pups, she could and probably would if needed, quickly become defensive and protective of her charge. With good reason, he understood. He meant no harm, but his intrusion wasn't exactly communicating that. Perhaps a gift would pacify them? Doubtful, but he had to try. And it turned out he was lucky. Hurrying back to the edge of the territory at a fast, loping pace, he dug up one of his recently, non-eaten kills which he had been saving for later, it was a medium sized, plump hare, cold, but fresh. Returning quickly a little later, hare in jaws, he slowly entered the clearing, his brown and green coloration providing him some fairly good camouflage. He approached a few yards, within plain view now, and he slowly dropped the brown hare in front of the black female's sight. Seeing the female's black coat and blue eyes reminded him painfully of his own sister who had a black coat streaked by blue and who had one blue eye and one green eye. His eyes downcast and tail down, he bowed his head, saying in a calm, open voice, -"I mean you and your little charges no harm, I simply wish to talk," Hearing himself speak, it didn't sound like the daring, bold adventurer he knew who spoke without regard and much more informally. But this was a matter of care, if being his mother's son taught him anything, it was manners.
I sound like Kiyuwenta did, that's not good!

GENTRYAhh. Now this pup was one to be weary of. Springing from the bushes Gentry looked to go after his sister. He sprinted forward as fast as such a pup could, jumping, his aim matched to land on Lyss. It wouldn't hurt, it never did, but it would be interesting to see if she could move out of the way before he landed belly first on her. She was almost bigger than him anyways, the pup had been small at birth and was still smaller for a male of his age. His coat was a ginger mix, odd from his two parents. But it was tipped with the black from his father's classic dark coat, and his belly was the color of snow from his mother's more elegant white coat. Odd mixings of coat colors were not unknown to the least in the basin, after all, over half the Southern Pack had wings. It had to be the largest population of winged wolves with in the borders of the packs.

[/li][/ul] >Music< A dignified lady would never act as Cheveyo just did. Springing from her perch on the rock, she let out a growl. It didn't matter what this male said, she would never trust someone outside of the pack now, not until she knew everything about them. But he was handsome, and sometimes even the smartest hares fall for the fox. Right now, the bunny was starting to slip up. Keeping her composure she hid her fangs from sight, prowling like a lion closer to him. She was shorter and less powerful, but she would kill with the passion of a mother if need be. Lack of one, she was.
The pups would be safe in their play beneath the rock, chasing their bugs and hunting each other down. She had taught them well enough not to run off in search of something that was not there to find. The female stood as tall as she could. He seemed to mean no harm, but it made her nervous with the rest of the pack gone to hunt. If anything, she didn't know quite how to react; her original bravery was ever so slowly being diminished by the sight of the unknown. The manners of this male almost scared her. The basin had never known itself to many manners, too much death had happened in the hills to make it worth anything to either side. After all was done, neither pack would want to make anything of each other, other than a new grave.
Competition between the packs had hurt her more than many; she was as delicate as a flower that bloomed. Chevy could see the beauty in the trees, and the life in the water. But she couldn't see the pleasure in killing, other than to survive, or the greatness to the taste of drawn blood in a fight other than to help her family. Life was to be sustained in the most caring manner that she could, but even the pups couldn't see what she could. Death was all too common for them, murders, just another dead wolf. Nothing could change how they were to see the world until they were older. But something had changed Cheveyo before them. Maybe it was the death of her mother at such a young age. Maybe it was Mors dying. Maybe it was Corra's disappearance. Maybe it was Moonrunner's utter blood-lust or the fact that Efron left to follow her. Whatever it was, it was defiantly something. Something had taught her that life was just not a game, but chances. A clock that ticked, in just one moment, could become the heart that no longer beat.
"Who are you and why have you came." It was blunt, but it was all that she could muster out as she stood between the stranger and the small pups she would die to see live. He didn't seem to be much to worry about, but he could be something. Just hiding. Her rabbit soul said to flee, but her heart said to stay. Stay close to this fox, and hope not to be hunted down like prey. The tan fox, and the small black hare. How ironic, as he layed down a dead one, for an offering, at his feet.

Almond darted up the nearest tree as soon as she spotted the strange wolf. She hid among the leaves, confident of her safety as she watched her companion's litter play below.
Meanwhile, Lyssenta turned to the stronger of her two brothers - the one that giggled at her after her failed hunt. She snorted at his words. "Stupid beetle better hope there's not a next time. It won't survive!" Her mood brightened when he suggested they play together, and perhaps ake up an adventure. Her tail wagged - an adventure sounded fun!
Before she could voice as much, shining yellow caught her vision. A moment later, there was pain in her ears as they were nipped. She let out a yelp as her sister laughed and turned to growl at her, hackles raised but tail wagging. She looked between the two and opened her mouth to speak-
--and the words turned into a startled yelp before they even left her mouth as her other brother landed squarely on top of her. She hadn't seen him coming, due to the distractions caused by her other siblings.
As gently as she could - mindful of her brother's increasing but still worrisome health - she pulled herself out from under him and shook her pelt. "Rawr!" She stretched. "Okay! As I was goig to say before, Kale, an adventure sounds great! What sort of adventure should we have?" She looked around at their surroundings, searching for ideas.

| Brown fur tipped with the lightest black from her father puffing up when her older, but physically littler brother randomly plopped on to Lyssenta, Sowilo let out the biggest of grins. The pup was eager to see the siblings she was closest to and she greeted him gently with a lick to the back of the ear, panting. Her golden eyes danced as she watched Lyssenta search about for ideas on an adventure. The energetic pup burst out, -"How about we play Princesses, Knights and Dragons? I and Gentry can be the Knights, Lyssenta can be the Princess, and Kale can be the Dragon!" She loved the idea of being a knight, even if she was female. The idea of protecting someone form an evil vicious creature, even if it was pretend, enthralled the young, sun-bright pup.
Let's go!

[bg=SaddleBrown] | [bg=Sienna]Alert, but not exactly on edge, the wind immediately picked up very noticeably, the trees and twigs and some of the medium sized branches of the trees picking up in response to Lumescentii's sudden sense of alertness. Ever since he had gained the ability of wind control through the shard he received, Lumescentii had learned the secrets of the wind, and the wind had slowly, but surely become perfectly in tune with him, responding to the slightest changes in his emotions. In essence, he had become in harmony with that aspect of nature, he had become One of the Wind. He watched as the female slowly approached, her coiled muscles and her stalking reminding him of an elegant she-wolf he once knew, the picture of elegance and strong, the one who had become alphess of his pack before they had disbanded. But the she wolf, with her black fur and blue eyes and bangs, did not seem to have the same cold-bloodiness as the other female who knew. Not the same penetrating glare, either. In fact, as the female approached, she seemed... not vulnerable, but as though she had been through a little too much.
This girl is not even full-grown, but she seems to have been through a lot already, like me... Watching as the she wolf approached, he knew in a tight spot, he'd be able to defend himself, if needed, but who knew? Who was he to assume what the female had been through? The female stood before him, and she asked him his name and intent. He exhaled softly, had he not already stated he meant no harm? then again, the circumstances of the meaning did not seem to point that out, despite his words, and who could be sure with pups around? He answered the younger female a little more formally than he did most, -"I'm Lumescentii, son of Waquila and Shayde, One of the Wind. My pack has long since disbanded, I have trav- to the point, I wish to... join the pack...," He whispered the last part, as he looked at the female a little more closer now.
Siren. She sings like a siren and looks like my sister Siren... His bright blue eyes softened a bit as he looked at the black-coated femme with bangs. He remembered, indeed quite painfully, he had fallen in love twice in his three years. His first, on his quest, she had turned form him and went to the fire-breather first, the one of her own pack. He hadn't blamed her, but it had hurt, hurt immensely. The second, another who had been on his quest, the one from another pack, and his affections for her caused him so much strife, yet she had recuperated his feelings, at least, it seemed. He never saw her again after the disbandment of his pack. Both caused him heart-break. His mind had since moved on, but this female did bring back some painful memories.
A siren, a siren indeed...

He slid with ease from the bigger female's shoulders, a tiny cough preceeding his next words. "Daw, why do I have to be the dragon?" he questioned, eyes furrowed. "I'm ALWAYS the dragon. Why can't I be the king?" he questioned, watching Sowilo with narrowed eyes. "And tell all of you what to do?" Happiness laced his expression, his tiny paws padding him along.
Well, if he was to be the dragon, he might as well start... Dragoning. He waltzed behind the two females, and let out a ferisome "RAAAAWR!" pouncing forward, his paws pushing Sowilo to the ground proudly. "Raaawr!" he carried on. "I'm a vicious wolf-eating dragon! You better move!"

GENTRYThe small ginger pup furiously wagged his tail, a small grin on his face when it was annouced he would get to be a knight. This game was not his favorite, but if he had to play, he wanted to be a knight! After all, he wanted to be a king some day! The first step to that had to be being a knight right? Well either way he let out a growl at his dragon-brother; crouching down, clearly ready to possibly "attack" his brother. A crooked, toothy, grin showed that he was indeed his father's son. It wasn't many wolves that could pull off such a crooked grin so perfectly. The black-tipped ginger fur on his hackles raised to make himself look bigger than the small pup he really was.

[/li][/ul] >Music< It wasn't unknown for a male to come searching for a pack to join, but it was clear this male was from nowhere near here. If he was, he would have never entered the territory without a howl to first ask to join. It made her more nervous, since any wolf could be one of Moonrunner's goons. There were just so many of them to frighten her. Plus Moon was just so devious. And, after all, Efron had joined up and Eyolf had met some black she wolf, that according to him, looked almost exactly like Cheveyo. He said the only real difference was that 'Cougar' had been taller and thinner, while she was a bit shorter. But he said that they acted like they could be siblings. Something about inner conflict and going gainst the rules for what was right. To Chevy, it didn't sound a thing like her. Maybe her wilder side, but not this one. Not the scared rabbit side of her which was what she most often showed.
Something inside of her insisted that the bright eyed, tan, fox-like male was no threat to her or the pups, but everything happening made it just ten times harder for her to be able trust anyone or anything. She looked at him with narrowing blue eyes. Wanting to join? Pshaw. Why was he talking to her, a nursemaid, when he should be cussing and dicussing with Brock? It was simple as talking to the big male of the pack, and praying not to be ripped to pieces. But then again, she had had the advantage over her pack mates, entering as a pup rather than an adult. If she had been given her choice, though, she would still be with her parents who wouldn't be dead right now like they were in reality. The female's childhood was really nonexistant. Somehow though, Chevy wouldn't complain about meeting this boy. He seemed nice enough, and he was too shabby in the looks department either.
It was only a moment after the newcomer spoke, that Brock's howl ended a hunt. That was fast. She looked back and down into the basin. If she could have cried with relief she would have. Her first assumption was that someone had been seriously injured, the only end to a quick hunt; But instead a dead female was laying on the ground surrounded by her pack mates. She whipped around quickly, staring the male in the eyes for a second before glancing down a tad awkwardly at her own paws. They were a handsome green. Better than any others she had ever seen. But it was so awkward to even steal a glance at him.
"They're done with our hunt. You'll have to ask our alpha to join. His name is Brock." There. She spit the words out quickly. Chevy almost refused to be hurt by another male. Love. Snort. It was stupid to even think there was such a thing. After all. If her brother really loved her, he wouldn't have left. He wouldn't have left a pinecone at the entrance of her den and just walked away. He could have just given her a damn 'good-bye'. Love was such a stupid word and was stupider than even.. even.. She couldn't even think of something stupider to compare it to. She sat back down, biting her lip slightly, and looked quietly back up at him, stealing another look into his green eyes. The girl could only hope that this guy was different than any others.

| Sowilo was unfazed by Kale's protesting. At birth she had been the largest of the pups, perhaps the healthiest, and she still held that title, though now the other pups were much larger, Gentry still much smaller, but Lyssenta and Kale much closer in size to her now. Now that that mattered to the confident tiny pup. Suddenly though, Kale was atop her and proclaimed himself the dragon. Smirking, the female's enhanced eyesight saw more than she would've needed of the 'dragon' which was her brother. Suddenly Sowilo struggled and wrestled herself free of Kale's grasp. Suddenly the tiny pup shouted, -"I am Sowilo, the Sun Knight! The one who will slay the vicious dragon! Sir Gentry, join me!" Barking playfully, the female prepared to pounce and pounce she did on her brother Kale.
Hahaha!

[bg=SaddleBrown] | [bg=Sienna]Lumescentii watched the female with his bright blue eyes, the wind he had created dying down as he heard the loud howl of what he submersed to be this female's alpha. The female looked as though she was uncomfortable, and Lumescentii couldn't help but feel a little guilty about putting her into the situation. He also saw that she didn't like meeting his eyes, for reasons he could not understand. However it was evident that something had happened to the female before him. What it was, it was none his business. His brown ears perked alert as the female told him to ask the alpha and that his name was Brock. Lumescentii lifted his gaze from the black she-wolf to look in the direction of where the hunt was taking place.
I shouldn't interrupt them eating... But... Sighing softly he stepped past the female about a yard, away from the pups, than stopped. He looked back at the female and said softly, -"Thank you," Than continued to pad his way down until he was out of sight. As he walked, the female left an imprint on his mind. He could've sworn that something about him, besides his intrusion, bothered the female immensely, but he couldn't place a paw on it. Shaking his head, the cinnamon colored male with green streaks focused on joining the pack, if this Brock would allow it. He felt somewhat lonely, being alone again as he walked, he had come from so far away, that he was unaccustomed to the the traditions and customs of this place.
So far away is home... but home is truly gone...
