Oh my god. Please help me, knee deep in the river tryin' to get clean. He says wash your hands, get out the stains But you best believe, girl, there's hell to pay. Yeah you best believe, girl, there's hell to pay, sayin'. Come on.
Oh my god. Please help me, waist deep in the river, can you hear my plea? He says, daughter, you come like a beggar in the streets. You might make it, girl, but by the skin of your teeth. You might make it, girl, but by the skin of your teeth, sayin'.
I rambled with the worst of them. Fell in love with a harlequin. Saw the darkest hearts of men. And I saw myself starin' back again. And I saw myself starin' back again.
With that, the words were cut off quickly as the she-wolf who sang them dunked beneath the surface of the crystal clear waters of the river. It had been many months ago since she had met her best friend's brother along the side of the river much farther down stream, but now she claimed this patch of the Eston river as her own. Even if it was in Southie territory. She didn't give much of a crap what they would think of her. She never had and she didn't think she ever would. The males seemed to like her. Except Brock. That was a given of course. How could he like a Northerner anyways? Even if Cougar wasn't quite a Northerner by choice. The scar on her right-back paw was sample to remind her of that.
No one other than herself, Ellis, and Swithun new of her travels to the river almost bi-daily. It would have been less if Ellis hadn't tracked her down and knew her ways a little well after all. Swithun knew because, well, because it was Swithun. The only real friend she had other than her adoptive father. Plus she loved to share just about anything she found with the craft male. He could unterstand how she felt; he didn't know his parents either. Something else lured the younger she-wolf to him. Maybe it was the danger she could see in his eyes, or the fact that he didn't seem 'blinded' as the others did. Efron had had as rough life as she had. Dead parents, adoptive ones. The comminality sorta ended there. She had been taken in by Moonrunner, pushed to her limits and almost starved to stay the perfect weight. Efron was adopted by the South, the softest pack she ever knew of and their greatest enemy.
Bubbles were born at the lips of her mouth, flowing out in a small stream and popping as they reached the surface. Cougar had always wondered why they went up and not down or left or right. The black and grey locks of her hair flowed with the water, and were forced down as she came up for air with a big gasp. It all iced over her vision and brain, making her think clearly now. Dunking made everything so much more beautiful and in focus. I was even better when the water was cold like today. The bue eyes of the female looked up to the sky, thunder crackling the warm spring air. Sigh. One thing she couldn't stand was storms. But she was gonna have to pay for the hell she raised eventually. Maybe the storms were just a way of starting to pay off her debt to the devil. After all, that snotty she-wolf had always said she had sold her soul to the wreched little creature.

Music: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JU7_uKNVzCk (It just fit for the moment, at least for Swithun. >=3) | Supremely silent, the handsomely tall male followed the familiar scent to the river. He was as silent as night, having mastered the ability as a pup playing pranks on his siblings, especially Eyolf. An amused expression played at Swithun's face, his midnight-like eyes twinkling like moonbeams and a smile was hinted at his lips, but it wasn't quite there. He stood three yards away, shrouded by the dark thunderheads above and the foliage of the bushes and trees as he glimpsed Cougar's silky black coat and her blue eyes. He had heard her singing, and he was not at all surprised to find his fellow down here. It was her spot, and he shared the same lack of regard she did about Eston Falls supposedly being Southern territory. Truly, Brock and Ayria and the others patrolled the other pieces of their territory far better than this, in his opinion. A large, characteristic smirk slowly spread across the male's black muzzle, revealing contrasting, ivory sharp teeth. He had learned in his days with the Northerners, through sheer boredom at being unable to play any tricks or pranks seriously without repercussions, to extend his Mirage ability beyond the visual field. Indeed, he could imitate scents and sounds now, and he had fooled many other animals with it. He had a mind, perhaps, in his dark recesses, to try it with Cougar, but he relented. He would relent only for her, for the she-wolf was not one he felt he need trifle with, and it was out of respect he didn't, as well as friendship.
Ah, if only Eyolf, or perhaps sister was here, I'd certainly derive a good chuckle from them! Sighing, the year and half Efron came down to finally reveal himself as a thunderclap sounded above, breaking the chirping of birds and the wind as it did. The clouds were dark gray and blackening further, the wind ominously above the two wolven, thunder occasionally booming and lightning flashed, but the rain had not quite started yet. Gracefully entering the cool waters of the river, the male was an imposing sight if you didn't know him well, with that crazed smirk on his face, and his eyes gleaming like they usually did, mischievously. But for Cougar, it was his friendly face. Wading with long, lanky black legs, the black furred male's eyes flashed as he faced opposite of her, his eyes staring into her blue ones, as he stood chest-high in the water, above her. An amused expression crossed his face for half a second, than he asked teasingly, in his sultry, deep voice in a nigh whisper in her ear, -"Enjoying the water are we? I wouldn't be enjoying the weather, however, Cougar," He knew she had a dislike of storms, but he couldn't help himself. Pulling back, he laughed slightly, and his dark eyes stared into hers, his sly smirk on his face.
And now is when the rain starts...

It came down in sprinkles, making their small circles where each one hit. Magnificent, very much indeed. The thunder slowly boomed overhead, with looming clouds putting an almost terrorized feeling deep in her chest. She would never let it out, though. It would show weakness and a lack of power. The female would never let that happen as long as she was stuck with the Northerners. They were not who she wanted to spend the rest of her life with, never at all. If anything it would be a joy to spend it with her best friend. Her adoptive father was starting to drift away; attractive by hormones and an undeniable urge to be around a certain hot-blooded female she was not particularly fond of. Cougar wished him the best of luck with the witch.
An undeniable urge of her own, hid inside of her. She would never be able to deny a grave attraction to Efron. It had started the first time they met, they were equals and equals were hard to find. Each had their own strengths, and each knew each other as well as kin could. Moonrunner would punish her, if she ever knew about her and Efron's bonds. Cougar was just another lure to the alphess; like the wrapper off a candy bar, she was considered disposable if need be. But the strength inside her could prove the bitchy female wrong in heartbeat. Bright blue eyes looked up to the clouds, closing silently as she let the rain hit her muzzle and run down her cheeks quickly as if it was late and needed to be somewhere soon.
Sighing, she looked back at the male with a crafty half-smile. There was something about it that drove males crazy. Maybe it was the secret that hid on her lips, or the temptation that rested in her eyes, but who had time to tell when she looked at you like that. It was a dare again. Cougar liked to dare him, they were equals after all. Even if he was a little bigger. From the water around them, she picked one spot in front of them, blowing quietly on it. Her eyes danced as the once warm water, grew a bit of ice, melting as quickly as it formed. The female moved closer to Efron. Her voice was the normal, strong, but female, tone, "We all have to pay for our sins sometimes.... You should know more than anyone, the number I'll have to pay for..." Her half smile grew a tad hopeless. She knew that she could never get to the good side, no matter how much she tried.
All she had wanted was peace; it would never happen, Cougar knew it would not. Too much blood had been shed already. The blue eyes looked up to her friend trying to search her friends for something; anything, to cling onto. She hated the feeling of being lost, but her soul felt very confused of where it sat at the moment. Or maybe that was her heart just crossing wires with her brain. Feelings were undeniable, confusion was unavoidable, and her past was irreversible; but they were also all punishable. Not if no one saw the two, though, and they hadn't been spotted after all this time.
