Ansa - Two Years - Female - Mexican Wolf
It's a trap!Being particularly young and bullheaded, Ansa revels in freedom, her nameless Grizzly companion acting as a silent ward, backing up her reckless, immature behavior and keeping close watch over the female. For this reason she is a loner by choice, baiting playmates and friends from all across the metaphorical board while likely gathering a good number of enemies, too.
She is small, as is natural for any Mexican wolf. Her coat is mostly a collection of grays with great swaths of reddish-orange marking her flanks and about her eyes. White splashes along her cheeks with a pale underbelly, tail and legs contrasts strongly with the darker cape and hood markings, and she appears to have no trouble in the hunting department. Not unnatural in the least, her eyes are a burnt-gold color, often shining with a fierce determination or an almost cruel, playful teasing. Weighing only sixty pounds and measuring roughly five foot from tail to nose, she is light and lackluster in the department of intimidation and battle, necessitating a rather strongly developed ability to creep and sneak with the best of them. Primarily she subsists of small meals although it is not below her to steal from her companion. Often she can be found under the bear's heels and huddled against her belly with a cheeky grin, daring anyone to challenge her or her 'pet'.
As formerly mentioned, Ansa is particularly bullheaded. Life is a game, you are the player. Everyone and anyone is a playmate to her as well as a target for her sugar-free observations. Cheeky and clever, she typically comes off as sarcastic though not necessarily uninterested. The more she must work for her prize, the better she cherishes it. By the same hand, she is also particularly generous and willing to share, perhaps too much at times.
In spite of her rather snarky attitude, she appears to lack the racism that most of the 'higher' kind possess and even expresses an almost unending amount of patience for the Naama where as her temper is quick to spark with the Uuma should they prove slow or not quite to her tastes. If anyone were to speak bad of her, it might be how her fearlessness gets the better of her and leads her to do many stupid things, including riling the most savage of wolves all for her innocent fun. Otherwise she might come off as cold and unfriendly if startled or insulted, often holding grudges that others might have normally forgotten ages ago. That said, she shows evidence of an incredible memory and keeps the strangest of things in her mind.
History
All mussed up by a pesky bear
All mussed up by a pesky bear
Ansa was not always Ansa. Not long ago, shortly after her birth, she was known to her home pack as 'Sedna', hopeful mistress of their lake-side territory with two brothers to tumble and roll with in the dewy grass and mud. She grew quickly, her size average among her kin (though her brother would come to outsize her by thirty pounds or better), and absorbed the stories of her pack mates eagerly. By the end of her first year she could recite the clan's history flawlessly and eagerly tagged along with the hunting parties though she contributed little to the hunt itself.
Sometime around her fifteenth month she met her companion, having had a rather spirited argument with her brothers not long before and in a huff stormed away from the pack. At first the bear terrified her, Sedna did not trust the massive shaggy monster that had appeared from seemingly nowhere. She watched with wide-eyed terror as the grizzly lumbered closer, growling and grunting patchily as it crept toward her, only to pay the beast a fierce snarl, tail lifting and curling in aggression as she edged further away, stance one that invited battle. Grunting, the bear halted, tilted her great, massive head, and groaned before falling back to her haunches. Though bumpy, the introduction of this friendship did not deter it from manifesting hard and fast so Sedna quickly became as dependent on the bear as she had her own mother as a babe.
This, unfortunately, proved troublesome among the pack. The bear was, understandable, protective of her 'pup' and fiercely defended her, intimidating any and all that showed even the faintest aggression towards the female. Nearing the end of her second year, the bear managed to lay a rather ugly blow on the alpha after a nasty quarreling and, while not fatal, it solidified the pack's view of Sedna's pet, as well as Sedna herself. Among her kin the word 'Ansa' meant trap, something to be avoided. As she refused (or more rightly could not as she had attempted to do so many times) to order the bear away, Ansa was viewed as vile and unpleasant in the same way as her companion. Fiercely defensive of her friend she stuck up for the creature as best she could but realized that her battle was a losing one. Weary and restless, she struck out from home one a few months too early with her companion in tow, wary of joining a pack for fear of being turned away for her companion as she had been by her own blood.
