| Leaves of the past were brittle and broken, scattering with the wind. The frigid frost and hardships of the past were now forgotten, as the last of the snow returned to the sky in the form of water vapor, awaiting its time again. Now that those times were past, the return of a land of plenty and sunshine and flowers were upon the Wolves of the West at last, again. A time of new life of all sorts and a rejuvenation of the land, as warmth and food returned. This was also the time that the she-wolf who's name meant Rebirth felt good about a new start, a new year. Renaissance was resting under a tree, on a high hill in the middle of Targe Forest. She sat beneath a great oak tree, who's hard wood and new shoots were dampened by a recent spring shower. The water inched along, almost tentatively across the new green leaves, until they dripped down onto the forest floor. Crimson eyes followed this process over and over again, as the Alphess contemplated the future as often as she did. A small, friendly smile alighted her face as she saw a warbler flit through a few branches across the small clearing from her, chirping in joy at the new spring.
All the creatures of these forests, from deer to us wolves, right down to the tiny worms, love the spring. Sighing softly as she stood up and rubbed her bright-white pelt against the tree, scraping of the dirt from when she layed down. Coming to stand under the scattered sunlight of the forest, the Alphess suddenly saw a hare alight the ground a few thickets away from her. She thought suddenly of Zafera, somehow. Shaking her head amused, she decided not to pursue the hare. Her belly was full and unless she was wrong, the pack was well-fed. Her ears perked up as her red-eyes shined like rubies in the sunlight as she looked up to the sun with a bright fang-filled smile. She enjoyed this life down here, instead of the cold north form which she came.
And the best part, no father.

Vesperi had been in her element all winter, and was actually sad to see the season go. She had been born where winter was a larger part of the year and where all the seasons were noticeably colder than here. She supposed she'd come to love the warmth in time, but for now she would miss the fluffy snow and slippery ice.
The she-wolf had been with this pack for quite some time, but she still didn't feel quite at home. It wasn't just the weather, either. It was...well...everything. She had to get used to changes in every aspect of her life, from the temperature to the company to the creatures she ate and even the ground she walked upon. She supposed it would take a full cycle of the seasons at least for her to feel truly comfortable but she would have to manage. The pack was a good one, and she was determined to remain with them for as long as she could...preferably until death.
A patch of white amidst the green and brown caught her attention, and Vesperi headed toward it. It was fur. Wolf fur. And not just from any wolf, either. It seemed the alphess herself had been drawn to the warming landscape. Veperi stopped in her tracks, ears and tail as low as they could go. She certainly didn't want to disturb the high-ranked female, especially since she seemed to be enjoying herself so much.

| Basking with closed eyes, the Westerner loved to feel the returning power of the sun. For one who knew of her origins, this could seem highly contradictory. The she-wolf had been born in Greenland, the high north. The place where it was snowy and cold almost year round, if not year round. But her natal pack had been a place of horrors, with her father being horribly vicious, and she couldn't help but almost theorize that climate had an effect on a wolf's temperament. Then again, the Empath was never without her doubts, considering this pack had a variety of different individuals. Grinning again, the thickly coated Arctic Wolf's fuzzy ears perked up suddenly and she smiled with a friendly grin up at the sky, her bright fangs revealed again. As Alphess it had never been more important to learn her pack-members names, no matter how distant they themselves were.
And if I do remember correctly, this would be Vesperi, the ice-manipulator. The scent was faint, but strong enough for Renaissance to sniff it out. The highly experienced Empath of four years of age felt a certain, what in her opinion, seemed hesitation from the blue-hued female. Tilting her head to the right, her white fur highlighted in places by the dappled sunlight and shaded in others, the crimson-eyed female seemed as if thinking for a brief moment. Perhaps about a certain wolf, or thing. But it was obvious whatever the wolf with the golden bracelets was thinking of, she was extremely fond of. She wondered if any of the wolves in the pack knew that she was truly a romantic at heart. Shaking her head the she-wolf expressed gently, with an inviting tone, -"My friend, why not come out and enjoy the new season with me? You know I don't bite!" The she wolf chuckled perhaps a little oddly about the last statement. It was rare that the she-wolf had a good chuckle about something, meaning she truly was in an amiable mood. She turned to look through the bushes at her packmate, her good-nature shining in her scarlet eyes.
It would be nice to get to know my fellow for once!

She could tell before she was called over that she had been scented. The alphess didn't seem to mind her presence. That was good. Vesperi didn't want to e reprimanded for being in the wrong place at the wrong time or for lingering in said place. Renaissance didn't seem to be the type to do that, but she couldn't say for sure what any of her pack mates' temperaments were.
She really needed to socialize more.
In fact, Renaissance had greeted her as a friend. Vesperi forced her paws to move and padded up to the alphess. "I didn't mean to interrupt..." She looked around. "I'm not really used to spring coming this soon in the year..."

| Renaissance turned to stand and face her packmate, her crimson eyes calm. She smiled understandingly as the she-wolf told that she was not use to an early spring. Laughing softly, but in hardly a belligerent way, the shockingly white-coated she-wolf noted that similarity between herself and her packmate. If she was right, Vesperi was probably used to a much colder climate, a place much north of the Western pack. Renaissance herself had been born nearly a whole continent away, far north, and the tundra was a harsh place, she knew. Her tail at a parallel level to the ground position and her ears relaxed, the thick-coated wolf replied to her light blue friend, -"You interrupted nothing Vesperi, I was simply resting and enjoying myself. Besides, I know what you mean when it comes to this warm climate," The she-wolf winked uncharacteristically at Vesperi and related to the other female, -"You know, I did come from a place where it was cold year-round, Greenland, if you wish to be exact. The only break was a three-four month summer season!"
And let me say, the fall temperatures are much more agreeable than the summer-time where I came from!

((Sorry for the lateness. x.x))
Vesperi froze for a moment while Renaissance faced her, but relaxed at the calm expression in the alphess's eyes. It was instinct to cower, to lower to ears and tail...and she did, of course, respect those higher up than she. Renaissance was making it hard to treat her like a proper alphess, however. Perhaps that was what she wanted - to converse as friends and not just packmates.
Still, Vesperi would be careful. She couldn't let herself get too casual.
"I'm glad," she responded when the alphess spoke. " You're from the north as well? I came from Alaska, not too far from the northern shore. I can see how fall would be more agreeable."

| Wind softly caressing the leaves on the trees, Renaissance listened to her fellow she-wolf speak. As she had suspected, the other female was from the north, though Renaissance had not heard before of the specific land the other wolf had mentioned. Alaska, was it? She assumed however, it had been far west of her own homeland, still bitingly cold though. Nodding with a pleasant expression on her face the crimson-eyed she-wolf's ears perked forward as a curious expression alighted the Alphess's face. "Vesperi... Would you like to accompany me on a walk through the forest? - the white wolf asked out of the blue, than she added, "Also... don't feel pressured to accept just because I might hold the position I do, She looked Vesperi directly in the eyes and smiled. Why should others do her bidding just because she held a higher rank? Yes, that sort of thinking could get one into trouble, but Renaissance felt a relationship between others should be built on trust and honor, not plain authority.
And if she feels not up for it, than so be it!

She blinked as the alphess started to speak, and it took her a moment to realize she was being invited on a walk. "I...well...sure, I'd love to." She did want to, but it felt weird to her that an alpha would want her company when there wasn't a task for her to perform. She wasn't sure why she felt this way. That hadn't been the way of things in her birth pack. She supposed she simply assumed that alphas were a bit reclusive in most packs. After all, she had seen a good many packs where the lower-ranking wolves were not happy.

| She couldn't help but be reminded of her own initial awkwardness (Perhaps it was still there, in part.) when she came from the North to here by Vesperi's tone of speech. She could sympathize somewhat with the icy blue-coated wolf. She smiled politely and nodded, a look of good will in her eyes as she turned, her fur brushing against the foliage and looked behind her. For a moment her crimson-colored eyes flashed, as if though Renaissance was contemplating something for a split second, before the Alphess walked into the forest as a fair pace but slow enough for anyone to catch up. Her golden braces jingled slightly as she stepped through the forest, Renaissance knew, or assumed Vesperi would follow soon.
