The short legged black mass bounced around the woods, pausing abruptly to scent a strip of bark, a lilac, or a daisy. Any watching wolf could hardly blame her, the female was hardly an adult, only 2 years of age. She hadnt quite been cleaned of her pup features.
Lakota yipped and spun in a circle, chasing her tail. She turned quickly, snapping down on the air where her tail had been not even a moment ago. She let out a bratty huff. She knew it was impossible to catch that darn tail of hers, yet disappointment to do so radiated of her being.
Flick. Something moved in her vision. Without even fully processing it, she was on the case, searching for the flick of movement. After some investigation, she found a small brown toad the color of the forest floor, hopping about. She held her head low to the ground in irrational fascination.

| Perhaps he was watching in smug amusement. Perhaps he was watching with genuine curiosity. Or another possibility was a certain apprehension he held for directly approaching his packmates. The wolf stood watching on a high hill, in a dense thicket of pine trees, where he could see the other wolf playing. He still, even after a month or two in the pack at least, did not know the names of all his fellows. It was embarrassing, even if he was the weird rusty colored wolf from some place called Africa. The wolf was not afraid, or anxious, quite the opposite, he just kept his distance because he was not sure of them. It was an analytical phase he was going through right now. But the black-coated female he was watching seemed innocent almost. He thought her name started with an L, but beyond that he had never been near this particular she-wolf. Maybe a passing greeting, or such. Maybe.
Or maybe you don't go down and talk to her because you don't want to lose your sense of control. He growled lightly at the dissenting voice in his head. Perhaps it was true, that he was simply making up reasons for his apprehension. Or maybe it wasn't apprehension. But he would not leave things to chance. The little Ethiopian Wolf sighed and one brilliantly green eye saw the female known as Lakota (He still wasn't sure.), staring with a pup's fascination at a small... what? Creature? Flower? He had to admit he didn't see it as well from his position, considering the creature was small and camouflaged. He closed his eyes and pursed his muzzle, tensing for a second. Soon the male of black, orange and white markings decided what he would normally do and quietly came out of the thicket, as not to disturb the female. It just wasn't a good idea to provoke a wolf, any wolf. Well, maybe except one that particularly rubbed him the wrong-way. But no had done that, yet. So he stood silently, a few feet from the blue-eyed female and he waited, his position neutral. He cocked his head as he finally got a sight of the creature, a small toad, the same that the she-wolf showed such an interest in. He smiled just a slight bit, so slight that not a fang showed. But it was his first smile since joining, none the less.
It truly is, adorable.

The infatuated black female didn't show any signs of suprise by her sudden company, and didn't acknowledge the other wolfs presence for a few moments longer.
Finally she raised her blue eyes and their gaze rested on the red wolf. "Isn't he so tiny? Isn't that so cool? There is so much life, so tiny too, in this forest and we don't even notice!" the black female insisted, seemingly starting to get a point about how beautiful 'insignificant' things are. But something like that was too philosophical and mature of a through process for the young wolf to consciously realize and expand on.
Already forgetting the toad, Lakota jumped at Lysander and lightly headbutted him in the shoulder. "You're it!" she declared, remembering an unfinished game of tag where she had been 'it' last. It was never too late to finish the game, and she certainly didnt want the game to end on her being 'it'. She disappeared into the trees, her hearty laughter echoing through the forest.

| Lysander stood motionless as he watched the female finally focus her attention on him instead of the toad. The red colored wolf cocked an imaginary eyebrow and his green eyes blinked plaintively. He was not so much of a philosophical type like some, but he could appreciate small and meaningful things, yes. As the female stopped speaking, he avoided possibly offending the female and said with a level voice, -"If you see it that way, than it is," Yawning the red male stood at full height, and while tall for an Ethiopian Wolf, he stood only about as tall as Lakota, give of take a few inches.
And I'm probably three times lighter. Oh, like I'm not insecure with myself. The male noted the last thought with heavy sarcasm. And while in his thoughts he did notice the female lunging at his shoulder. He jumped a little and gasped when he found himself lightly head-butted by his black-pelted packmate. You're It! Oh heavens, that game. The she-wolf really did have a touch of puphood still in her. He closed his eyes as he heard loud laughter all around him. He was an adult wolf of barely three years, so while young, he was not liable to be called a sub-adult almost. Groaning as he stood, a small smirk alighted his face. If the she-wolf wanted to play, than that was she would get. So shamelessly running after her scent, he dove into the woods, weaving in a graceful fashion as he chased Lakota down. He saw a flash of black and pearly blue and turned in that direction. He couldn't stay it forever, now could he?
Get ready!

Lakota heard the pitter patter of Lysanders pawsteps on the forest floor, and she smiled frivolously. She crouched down a bit, and slithered into the safety of bushes. She curled up underneath them, sinking herself into the soft pine needles to hide. She wagged her tail a bit but managed to force it to go still, and let the only sound be the male crunching through the forest. Her blue eyes smugly watched for him, it wouldnt be long until she would see him crashing through the forest after her. Maybe she could even trick him into continuing in the direction she was going in. She softly giggled, unable to contain how funny that would be!

| Footfalls echoing in the nigh silent forest, Lysander stopped and looked about him, his eyes vigilant. His bright neon-green eyes narrowed and searched all around the surrounding area, his broad, large rusty colored ears swiveled back and forth on the male's sleek head. Nothing. Suspicion crept onto the white-chested male with surprising easiness, his eyes now narrowed to slits. Where had the female gone!? If he were in a more serious state of mind, the 'Liberator'* would have thought himself fool-hardy for involving himself in the sapphire-eyed female's games. Hmm... A sudden realization dawned on the male! Go to the place he last heard her, duh! Bounding a few paces, stirring up broken and fallen leaves in his midst, and peeking his head through a thick bush, he yipped, -Ah-ha! Got y-", but stopped half-way through. His large ears drew back for a moment in disappointment, Lakota was nowhere to be found. Sighing, he withdrew from the bush.
Dar- What was that? He than heard a slight thump, but as soon as he heard it, it was gone. A smirk crept up the male's face and his green eyes narrowed just a bit, giving the lean wolf an almost villainous appearance. Not even bothering to sniff the air, so confident was the male that he finally was going to find the female, he raised his head high and turned his head in the direction of the soft noise. It was all he needed. Not suspecting a thing, the smug emerald-eyed male charged swiftly and soundly, with much less noise than before. The same impressive speed from before was being used, and in what seemed ridiculously short, Lysander was on the chase again. Barking almost in delight he stretched out a paw to tag the soft, sheeny black fur of his packmate... "Your it! - Lysander with a peppy smile, bounding off himself, the cat becoming the mouse.
Run! Ha ha ha!

A soft yip escaped the black female, she was astounded that the rusty furred male had discovered her location. She clumsily bounced to her feet, and loped slightly off balance after the male.
Her soft pink tongue lolled out between her sets of clean white teeth, leaving poisonous trails of saliva on all the leaves she crashed through. Her strides were long and somewhat aimless, making a ruckus of herself as she bounded between the trees, looking for russet mass that had been in her sight only moments ago.
She sniffed the air, her blue eyes squinting in concentration. Lakota giggled and decided to try a rather juvenile method. "LIE-SAN-DERRR" she screeched through the woods, not really expecting a direct answer from the hidden male.

| Lysander's smirk was now a wide, maybe slightly crazed grin as he bounded with little in the way of being quiet through the spring evening. He thought with a little tingle that he could hear footsteps, than they stopped. The male himself didn't stop, obviously! I'm so going to be homefreeeee! he thought with an excitement usually held within a pup. Than he heard the female call out his name as she looked for him. He snorted and nearly laughed at the call. He sure wouldn't respond!
I will not be caught off-guard again! With that thought in mind, the Ethiopian's claws suddenly sprung out of their sheaths, like a cat's. A small smirk alighted the normally sarcastic, serious male's face as he saw a young birch tree, it's leaves starting to bud. With a springing leap a few feat high, the male achingly hoisted himself, with his claws embedded in the bark as he climbed, onto a branch a good 6 feet of the ground, on a lower branch. It was thick and strong enough to support the small, very light Ethiopian wolf, who was only around 4 feet nose tip to tail tip and around 35 pounds. The Easterner curled his black-tipped tail against his body and folded his broad ears flat against his skull in a silly attempt to conceal himself. Of course, if he heard the she-wolf coming or had a suspicion, he could activate his Invisibility for a small while.
Ha ha ha!
