The useless leopard colored wolf wandered through Lamar Valley, bitterly eyeing the long stringy stands of grass, as they taunted her. One day she would be blend in with them, a long slim strip, and sway gently yet violently in the breeze.
No wolf would notice if Hint disappeared. They didnt consciously know it, but she was already leaving them, she was halfway gone. If they cared, they would have stopped her. Now they could hardly even see her, she was so thin, so they couldnt comment even if they wanted too. But that wasnt enough, she was only halfway there. She was still in sight, she still had width, and it was a sign of how weak was she was. She hardly had the strength to resist the scent of fresh kill anymore. But she had to. This was the first thing she was somewhat good at.

Something was missing.
Well, many somethings were missing. Many someones were missing.
But it was more than Thor that had gone off. Safo wasn't sure what was happening to her pack, but the numbers seemed to be dwindling. She didn't think it was an attack by Moonrunner, though she wouldn't put it past the corrupt she-wolf. She would have a vendetta against the Eastern pack after they had taken the cabin from her, and maybe she was capable of being sneaky to the point of kidnapping and killing/keeping prisoner wolves from other packs without so much as a hint of her presence. Safo wasn't sure, and - frankly - she was too scared to venture into Moonrunner's land and see what had happened. She would have to eventually. Once Sira had her pups and got used to leading alone...assuming Thor wasn't coming back. At that time, she would have to risk danger and seek out her missing pack mates in the devil's lair.
Not yet, though.
For now, her searches carried her across her own lands and the lands left unclaimed. Safe areas where a wolf might hide or have chosen to hunt alone during a bout of desperation. It was spring now, but only just. Winter only recently gave way to something resembling pleasant weather, and the pack was still facing hardships from the worst season of the year. She had noticed certain members getting rather thin.
Safo blinked. She had almost missed it, but there was one such pack mate now. She was heading toward the border, it seemed. Why?
Well, she could find out.
"Where are you going?"

Where Moonrunner can kill me "To the other side," Hint thoughtfully replied, doubting the female would catch any double meaning. She consciously put in an effort to keep her yellow eyes from glaring at the beta female for being able to see her. She let her thin rope tail go limp, and let it flutter helplessly with the wind like the grass. It felt amazing, she couldnt wait for her whole body to be able to do that. Literally. Thats why she was going to Moonrunner now.

"The other side?" Safo frowned. That...made no sense whatsoever to her. Also, the other female was avoiding her gaze. She didn't like what she was feeling from this situation: something was up. Something Hint wasn't wanting to tell her?
"What for?" the betess asked. "What's there to be found on the other side?" She studied her pack mate. "You look...well...really thin. Have you been eating at all these past moons? We can go hunting, if you like?" It had been some time since she tasted meat. Safo had been leaving what meat they could find for all the other wolves since she could subsist on tree bark if she had to.

Of life"Of the border," Hint said, a bit of a 'duh' haze in her eyes. No, I havent. Yes, I would love to eat something. "Maybe Thor flew over to Northern lands," she reasoned. The black female was aware of Safos desire to find Thor, and she knew that this would hit just the right spot. "Will you come with me?" she asked. "I could use some help," she said. A convincible alibi, in Hints opinion.

Safo frowned when Hint said she was going over the border. To where? It could be dangerous outside the territory, especially alone. Surely Hint wasn't going off to join one of the other packs? ...No, she wouldn't do that. Something else was up.
Then she spoke again, mentioning that Thor might have flown to the Northern pack's territory. That...seemed likely. Chillingly likely. They had pretty much made enemies with the pack, and it would be in character for Thor to attempt to chase them far away to protect his pups. She shivered. That would explain why he didn't come back, right? He wouldn't have willingly left them for so long.
"You're very brave..." She shook herself, attempting to clear her thoughts and fears. "And I hate it, but that sounds likely. Yes, I'll come with you."
