Her cruel amber eyes looked the forest over distastefully. She was prickly and had high standards, and was never fond of this forest. If looks could kill, this forest would have burned to the ground long ago. But it was a source of food, and Russet wouldnt be able to deny the forest of that accomplishment.
She walked in, scenting for something. She licked her lips, smelling deer. Several herds maybe. Her nose searched for wolf scent, maybe some pack members were around. Her packmates weren't the most fun group of wolves she had encountered, but she was sure that they would share her common lust for deer meet.

Sighing softly, the naama finally lay down. He had been travelling for several days now. Ever since that last run in, he had been avoiding wolves for a while now and just wanted some rest. The spot that he had chosen was rather comfy. The shade was nice...the leaves rustled a soft lullaby...the cobra snake was...wait ack a snake!
Leaping backwards, he bonked his head nicely on a low hanging branch and just crumpled with a low whine, the snake he had nearly lain on slithering into the underbrush and away. The loner just lay there with a paw on his head, eyes half closed, whimpering for a few moments before finally settling down. What a way to start the morning!
Speaking of morning, he was hungry again. He still had not gotten the hang of tracking and being sneaky and stalking prey that well, so things often got away. He was too young when his pack had been slain, he had not learned all of what they had to teach him. This made every meal a pain to get, but he was learning. No longer quite so tired, the loner picked himself up, shook himself off, and began poking his nose into random locations. Anything small would do. He enjoyed catching rats and weasels, moles, slow birds, rabbits were sometimes hard if he startled one too soon but they were decent.
He had not tried anything bigger or equal to himself yet, so the scent of deer that wafted into his nostrils was an entirely new scent. Tilting his head slightly, the naama turned and wandered off, looking for its source.
He did not find the deer yet, but did catch the faintest whisper on the winds of something that automatically caused his hackles to rise. Uuma...This time, he would make sure she wasn't already protecting something, and maybe he could catch her unawares. The Naama almost made it a game. Crouching down and stealing closer, he could see her from behind, and she surely couldn't see him yet. Shaking himself to loosen his muscles and try to relax, he began to silently creep up behind her. His jaws were open, saliva dripping, eager to kill a hated Uuma. Just before he thought she might have noticed something and could turn, he quickly dashed t he last couple yards and snarled viciously just as he leaped for her back.

The tiger striped female smirked. Finally. A wolf that she was allowed to sink her teeth into. She continued what she was doing, letting the other wolf stalk her.
The bitter female heard light pawsteps behind her, and a snarl. Her cruel amber eyes became alive, and she spun around to meet the wolf, jaws slightly parted and ready. She sprung into the air, meeting the airborne naama halfway, ready to feel his teeth rip at her fur. She clamped her jaws down on some piece of fur, a leg a shoulder? Who cared. She hadn't had an opportunity to feel this alive in a long time, she wasn't going to get distracted by details now.

The loner could see the other turning, but it was already too late. His feet had cleared the ground, just as she was doing the same. They clashed heavily in the air, the tiger-wolf's fangs sinking deep into his shoulder, too close to his neck for comfort. Yelping a cry of pain, the loner was crushed backwards into the ground with Russet atop him, showing no mercy. The young wolf continued with puppy like yelp-whines, even as his own jaws sought whatever nearby flesh he could reach. His hind legs began a rapid kick, return, kick, return, slashing claws at whatever of her lower half they could catch. His front paws planted against her and pushed, anything to get her off.

They landed, and suddenly she was on top pinning him to the ground. He snapped on her fur randomly, shooting electric pains through her pelt. Pup like squeals rand through her ear. Didnt he know how to play the 'game'? This was not something she expected.
Russet placed a big white paw on the wolfs chest and lifted her head, looking at him. Why, he was just a pup! She almost wished that she could say that she had a heart and wouldnt kill him due to the fact he was a pup, but she honestly saw it as he was not a worthy contender to the 'game' considering he was a pup.
"Why, youre a little young to be playing this game," She chuckled, even though she knew he couldn't understand. She pushed down, almost all her weight, down on the wolfs chest, and then jumped backward with a sudden jolt. She watched, keeping a safe distance, waiting for her foe to recover. It wasnt as fun if the other player is a pup. She might as well let him grow up, and then the real fun would begin.

It was over as quickly as it had started. Once her teeth left him, his own sounds were silenced, and the staring match began. It was all he could do not to snap at her foot on his chest. Sure, she was a hated Uuma but she had let go after all, and he knew when he was beat at least. Keeping his head tucked, his gaze narrowed as she spoke. Of course he didn't understand. It was more proof that these uuma were never to be trusted. They were too different. Ears pinned back, the naama could only reply with a growl at her that turned into a grunt as she pressed into him and leapt away.
Rolling over, he rose. With a light roll of his shoulders and a good vigourous shake, whatever damage to his shoulder was deemed negligible. The naama took a few steps towards Russet, growling softly, clearly not thanking her at all for walking off. He was sorely tempted to continue the fight, taking another step to her, then halting. With a sigh, his head drooped sightly, but he wasn't about to tuck tail and bolt like a little coward. Nope. He marched straight up towards Russet, keeping just out of her snapping range and glaring at her all the while, ready to leap aside if she did anything. He bared fangs in passing, gave another little 'this isn't the last of me' growl, before quickening his pace into the underbrush, checking behind him to make sure if he was followed or not.

The striped rusty female watched the naama approach, tensed and ready for anything he might try. She smiled when he growled at her. She gave a slight nod of her head. This battle was going to take a recess. He would have time to grow and get experience. When he returned, he would be a match for a worthy battle. She could hardly wait.
Russet stretched her neck while the wolf was still close, and licked the tip of his nose very lightly, a sarcastic sign of friendship, almost a taunt really. She watched the naama leave, fantasizing the possible battle, the blood and gore that could spur from it. Once he disappeared she lowered her head to lick the mixed blood from her chest and flank. There wasnt a lot, but the scent was strong. She washed herself clean, hiding the pact between her and the naama to meet again. This encounter she wouldnt tell to her pack.
