The male kept his head down as he trotted across the snow and rock. He detested being in the open this way, but per Moonrunner's instruction, he had been ordered to scout and see which of the packs were weak, and which were thriving.
So far, he still needed to asses the Eastern and Western packs, but given Moonrunner's reputation, he figured this would be more important than dealing with Thor or Xane.
He wasn't afraid of being caught, he was more afraid of Moonrunner's wrath if he didn't come back with any decent information. He swallowed, a lump formingi n his throat. The difficult part was yet to come- crossing over into another pack's territory unasked was like asking to have your limbs broken, and left for dead.
But it was much worse if he didn't return with Moonrunner's information.
He understood, he really did, but it still frightened him to no end.
His muzzle rose, scenting the air. All he could detect was water, and the crisp scent of snow. Maybe the pack had abandoned the basin?

Skölls white tinted form floated across the treeline of Biscuit Basin. He wasn't particularly fond of getting his paws muddy, so he did a half- BAD LANGUAGE job with his patrols. It wasn't even a formal patrol though, so he wasn't accountable for anything. He yawned, stretching his black jaws. He snapped his muzzle shut mid-yawn, tasting a weird scent on his tongue. He scented the air, and paced around a bit, trying to zero in. Smelled like another wolf. He would have to investigate this.
He trotted through the grasses of biscuit basin. He spotted a bit of fur through the grasses just ahead, and he approached. He raised his lip and let out a snarl. "Who are you?" he growled once he and the male were just out of lunging range.

Perhaps she shouldn't have come this far, but it was impossible to keep the alphess away from the basin for too long. It was one of her favorite places in the park, not to mention in her own territory. Besides, she was being smart. She had taken the journey slow and allowed herself plenty of breaks. Also, she had managed to find a freshly-dead rabbit on her way. She normally wasn't one to eat anything she didn't kill, but the smell and taste were normal and her pups needed the food. Winter brought with it scarcity, and scarcity could lead to still births, so she was taking every opportunity to feed and ensure that didn't happen.
As she walked through the basin, two other wolf smells wafted toward her. One of them was safe, belonging to one of her packmates. The other, however, was unfamiliar, with just a hint of...no, that couldn't be...
She loped toward the two, and - as she approached, she could confirm the scent. This strange male had regular contact with Moonrunner. She probably should have run away, taking her current condition into account, but instead she continued toward the others. Her fur stood on end and her lips lifted into a snarl as she came to stand by Skoll. "Explain your presence here, trespasser!" She had treated loners much kinder than she was treating this poor male, and she might have been kinder to him as well if only she couldn't smell her on him.

Sköll eyes widened in horror when he saw the alphess approach. He returned his gaze back to the loner, not able to safely look away for more than a moment due to a pending attack. The alphess approached, much to the black wolfs dismay. He glanced at her, What are you doing here? engraved on the black wolfs face, his orange eyes pleading. With pups due, it wasn't safe for the alphess to be put in any sort of threatening circumstance. But he couldn't let the intruder know that Ayria couldn't fight. He would have to play the other wolfs ignorance to his own advantage.
The black wolf put on a poker face, and took a confident step forward. The intruder was outmatched, two to one, and reinforcements could be on the way just by the raising of a single howl. His body was on a diagonal, slightly leaning his weight to put himself between the alphess and the intruder. This would hopefully appear to the loner as any standard precaution to keep the alphess safe. Hopefully he couldn't tell the alphess' scent changed.

| A shadowy figure slipped through the barren trees, the crunching of light snow heard as he continued. Now around 6 months, seven months almost & growing quite rapidly, Efron was living up to his name as the Devious Twin. Needless to say disappearing prey and things seen out of the corner of your eye were not uncommon now, thanks to the tricky little pup. His coat was starting to take on an adult's, loosing some of it's softness in place of a bristly, hard winter coat. The tall adolescent had slipped through camp, eager to explore, until he caught an interesting scent. And this was where he was heading. He already knew from the scent of a strong headwind that Sköll and alphess Ayria, who he knew was pregnant, were out here. Something must be going on. and he intended to find out what.
Glad am I my siblings did not follow, they would spoil this very... very much. Never one to come in boldly pronounced, he easily put up one of his illusions, which he had increasing skill in as he grew larger. He appeared invisibly, transparent, it was as if he wasn't there of course if anyone poked through his cloaking illusion, he'd be there. His face suddenly grew grim, dark eyes very unhappy, he knew that scent. It was a male he didn't know the identity of, but he sure smelt Moonrunner on the male. Minion, mate? All he knew is he'd enjoy toying with the intruder if he got the chance. He kept focus and stood a few feet away, detectable by scent only at the moment. His face was dark and a mocking grin. his tail wagged slightly and silently, his dark midnight black fur bristled with anticipation. He abandoned his cloak, letting his focus go, ending the illusion over him, and now he stood completely visible behind them. He stood very tall for a half-yearing, being precocious both in mind and body. With a perhaps twisted grin, he smoothly spoke, looking the male intruder square in the eyes with no fear, -"Hello, and I do suggest leaving,"

*&Ellis Gaellis seemed dumbfounded, unable to speak for a moment. He'd heard about Ayria from Moonrunner, and figured she'd be a demon or something. But this wolf seemed fairly normal. A little pregnant, but normal. "Ma'am..." his expression changed, from being fearful, to relaxing ever so slightly. "I don' plan on attacking, if tha's what you're worried about." he stated, feeling a knot in his throat.
He'd have to be extremely careful how he handled this situation- it was two to one, (Alright, two and a half.) and he didn't want to be the cause of any unnecessary deaths, specifically, his own.
"My alphess would like to make peace with every pack." he explained, seeming a little uneasy. Not intimidated, just uneasy.
His gaze wandered to Efron's form, a quiet smile tugging at his lips. He looked an awful lot like one of his brothers. "I'll be sure to take that suggestion soon then, lil one." His muzzle turned to Ayria, and as he stood, nearly ready to run, he began to think. Why was it Moonrunner hated this pack so much?

Skoll seemed horrified that she was there confronting the stranger alongside him. She could see his reasoning, there. Her pups would need protected. However, the more wolves they had on their side against the stranger, the less likely things would end in a fight. In the harsh winter season, it was best to try to avoid any injury.
As the two southern wolves faced the intruder, Ayria thought she could scent a third wolf. Efron had come to help them face off against the trespasser. She would have had an issue with this, but she was hoping to intimidate the strange male out of their territory. It seemed like the stranger was by himself. She could detect no other strange wolves in the area, so she assumed that he was indeed alone. Why Moonrunner had sent him on this errand, she had no idea. Did she want him to die? Knowing her, she didn't care either way.
The stranger seemed to notice his disadvantage. He tried to assure her that he wasn't there for a fight, and then continued saying his alphess wanted to make peace with the other packs.
"Your alphess is Moonrunner, yes?" Ayria growled. "I find your story unlikely." Moonrunner seeking peace seemed to her like an elk seeking meat. It just didn't happen. Even if the stranger thought he was speaking the truth, the power-hungry she-wolf had an ulterior motive, she just knew it.

Skölls pokerface lasted only a few moments, when Efron appeared out from his illusion the frosted white wolf clearly lost it. His orange eyes had an electrified look and his tail lashed back and forth behind him. How dare the pup even try to help? As if two full grown wolves couldn't handle the situation. In fact, having pups around made them look weak. Like they didn't have enough adults to do border patrols. And seriously, 'I do suggest leaving?' Like the half grown wolf could actually even MAKE the stranger leave. The entire situation blew his mind.
The stocky black wolf paid little attention to the intruders words, instead he silently fantasized beating the heck out of the arrogant little pup.
OOC: no offense to Efron hahaha i think its funny, like how little dogs all think they are really big:p

| Efron considered his move had been a little impulsive, as well as his phrase from before, and he disapproved of himself for a moment, it seemed like something Eyolf would do, not himself. His features were calm, but his ears were perked and black fur bristled, on alert. He took it on a hint of cynicism and the response he was getting that his packmates and the intruder either didn't take him seriously, or thought it quite incredulous that a pup would come out here. Perhaps both, perhaps it was rather stupid to come out here. Especially Sköll seemed upset at his presence, or irritated. Efron rolled his eyes, and quite visibly as well, the younger wolf could care less. He was here and that was that. Now he refocused his attention on the matter at hand.
Continuing right on... He watched as the stranger exchanged words with his alphess. He scoffed quietly at the very idea that Moonrunner wanted to make peace with them. It was almost an impossibility. however, Efron did keep an open mind to most things and decided this should be no different. Still, he doubted it in it's entirety. That female was dangerous and his mind went through the many hundreds, if not thousands of possibilities the female could be tricking the pack and him. He was a trickster to an extent and could understand some various possibilities, regardless of his age. He surely understood more than Eyolf, Eyolf was far to innocent, even if he did mess around sometimes, to understand. But Efron himself could not understand on the level of his adult packmates, obviously. Shuffling his paws, and looked up at the three adults surrounding him, he tensed, his posture wary, but bold and determined. Even though he was confident, the cautious side of him still reminded him of his young age and size, and an a Mirage didn't help an adult's jaws on your neck. Whether it was a astray packmate or a stranger. His eyes were cold and amazingly fierce at the same time now, the expression on his face and body unreadable right now.

"I understand that, Miss Ayria." Always the Southern Gentleman. "She said she would like a truce- at least for the winter. Involving not stalking prey into other territories." He seemed perfectly calm, and he had a getaway weapon if he needed it- that lovely, sonic boom of his.
An ear went flat. So far, from what he could see, the pack was a little... Off. A pup, coming to defend the very ALPHESS!? A PREGNANT. Alphess. They were weak now, it seemed. But you could neve judge a book by it's cover. "An just between you n me, ma'am, it would be best if you didn't have any wolves stalking into tha' forest. Some creepy things have been happenin' lately." He seemed honestly sincere.
"How are y'all doin on food?" Again, it seemed as though his focus was on the Southern pack instead of his own. "Especially with pups on the way, it looks like you're gonna have some problems real soon..."

Sköll spit on the loners paw. "We don't need to take note of your advice," the black wolf hissed. His aggravation became more prominent as the stanger continued, asking about the well-being of the pack. The wolf was a spy clearly. Sköll couldnt even give him the credit of being undercover about it. "Its no business of yours," he snarled. "But we are fine," he said. Telling a dangerous wolf the condition of a pack wasnt something you should do rashly. Being weak meant you were open for attack, but being strong meant that you were a threat. Saying you were getting along fine... it was a bargain for the other wolf. They could be lying. With an answer like that, the black wolf knew the stranger would know he was lying. But it was dangerous to tell the truth in moments like this.

| The wind was decreasing steadily, snowfall lightening slightly, and temperature warmer just a bit than it had been before. Efron noted this with a slight curiosity. Than the wolf's eyes widened slightly, oh no. No. That goof-ball, weather-manipulating wolf could not be coming, not now, when they were in the middle of dealing with a trespasser and lackey of Moonrunner's. The corner of his mouth twitched irritatedly at the growing scent o- "HIIIIII!!! HEY WHAT'S YOUR NAME? ARE YOU NEW? YAYYYYYYY!!!" - screamed Illyrian as she burst from the horizon, flying towards the three other wolves. Her screaming-speech was directed obviously at the wolf known as Ellis. The female was a relatively new member and had joined pretty much about the time Moonrunner had left, and so therefore had only heard rumors of a scary, rebellious female in the mountains far from the pack territory.
I wonder who the new wolf is, maybe we can be friends! WOO! Illyrian stood near them, the other wolves, her presence and sheer happiness activating her ability to control the weather to an extent, resulting in less wintery conditions in a small radius around her and lesser extent in the near environment. Her bright golden eyes shone with a happy pup-like enthusiasm and her tongue was lolling at the side of her mouth. The blue and green sprinkled 2 year old wolf giggled and approached, standing in between pregnant Ayria and Skoll. She then cocked her head and waited, oblivious to her other packmates expressions towards the stranger. And of course here thoughts were filled with the most random things.
Aren't puppies cute? YES THEY ARE!

Skoll was clearly bothered by having Ayria and Efron there. Perhaps especially having Efron there. She understood. Pups were to be protected. It would be fine for now. If the situation turned dangerous, she would send Efron back to gather the rest of the pack and fight from a distance with her abilities. She knew they wouldn't last her for long, but hopefully they would last long enough for the others to arrive.
Even more, she hoped she wouldn't have to resort to that.
The trespasser spoke, apparently attempting to pacify her. Instead, his words sounded more sinister to her ears. Skoll's too, judging from his reaction. "You can take your threats elsewhere, intruder. We are not interested."
Another pack mate came over to join them. She could have done with a more...serious wolf, but at least Illyrian was a fully capable adult. She greeted the newcomer with a quick nod before gesturing to Gaellis. "Our 'friend' here was just leaving."

He took no offense to Skoll, and simply shook the spittle free from his fur. He'd probably do the same, just not as rudely. There were plenty of pups abound, (Least of all, they didn't seem to have a sitter for them!) and one wolf that seemed to ACT like a pup. He had been able to sense her before, but figured she wasn't much of a threat because of the pup-like air around her.
"It wasn't meant to be a threat, ma'am, bu' if you want, I'll go ahead and go."
He had more than enough for Moonrunner, so with his ears pressed flat against his head, and with his full awareness behind him, began to the West, continuing to cross the Basin. He would head into Targe Forest, and after discovering things about THIS pack, would run up to the Wild Lands, and deliver information.
He sure as heck wasn't going against Thor. He'd NEVER enter that place again.
Quietly, he lowered his muzzle, and with an eye still on the four behind him, continued his gait, picking up speed until he was at a flat-out trot.
Somewhere in the distance, a raven screamed.
