| Brilliant leaves of red, brown, yellow, green, fell from the trees, decorating the landscape, all along with a nice partly cloudy day. Perfect! One little pup, a beige furball, was gathering more leaves in a pile so he could jump into them once more. And was he having a good time. "Wheeee!" - squealed the little wolf who would leap from a rock into the pile of leaves. Shaking his head to get off the leaves on his head, Eyolf's eyes blazed with a bright happiness only a pup possessed. They had a new alpha, Brock, and things seemed to be going back to order, but things were still moving so fast! And so, to celebrate Brock's coming into Alpha's position, Eyolf had decided to have a fall party to play in the leaves and chat with each other. He had told both Cheveyo and Efron, but neither had came yet. So Eyolf amused himself by jumping into the leaves.
Let's make an even bigger pile, hehe! Idealistically, Eyolf decided, he could have a pile of leaves the size of the trees the leaves came from! But that was going to be hard and to that, he needed help. Cocking his little head as he sat and thought on his rock, the pup 'hmmmed' until he thought of his most brilliant idea yet. Turn into a sparrow and gather the leaves by air and pile them one by one. But that was to slow for such a high energy pup. Whining by now, Eyolf pouted on his rock, now bored, and more bored. For now, he would just have to wait for some one to show. Than devious grin alighted the pup's face.
He he he he!

There was the prey.
The female pup's eyes were set on her beige colored brother with a hunters intensity. Her shoulders relaxed and tail not too low to disturb any leaves that might have just fell to the ground. Cheveyo had remembered her brother speaking of a party here but because he was him she had not really thought much of it. This was their favorite place to play on any normal day so she had a feeling that there would be no one else here.
This gave young Cheveyo the opportunity she would need to surprise her brother with... Well that was the surprise after all! You wouldn't/couldn't be surprised if I told you now would you? My point exactly. Cheveyo decided it was time though to reveal her secret, she had known it for a week and a half now, discovering her magical voice when she was at her favorite hiding spot.
It had all happened so quickly that it took her a hour or so to figure out how it worked, but by then she was enthrilled and howled and howled, not loud enough that the pack could hear her of course, but just so she could her herself. Now she was directly behind the rock. It was more of a boulder in truth, and hid the small she-pup well enough.
As Cheveyo took one deep breath she howled. It was more enchanted than it had been more than a week before, clear and beautiful as if she was singing a song with only the most basic of lyrics. Eyolf would be so surprised, she though giddily to herself. What would he say now that he wasn't the only pup with powers!

& | If he had been bored only moments ago, Eyolf sure wasn't now. He could of sworn only minutes before he had been watched, but when he looked behind him the beige pup saw nothing. He just hoped it wasn't ghost, he didn't like ghosts. Than a howl rang out and Eyolf jumped about three feet into the air screaming -"GHOST!!!" As he fell back to earth screaming he hit the long grass behind the rock, and found himself right next to his sister, who happened to be howling. But as much as he tried to focus, he found the sound pouring forth from his sister's lips were just to beautiful and captivating to look away from. She was, practically, a super star when she howled now. So he just stayed there lying on his back, paws tucked into his body, as he watched his sister howl that beautiful song. All anger he might of had at being tricked himself and not the other way around washed away with the grandeur of Cheveyo's howl.
Wow, where did she learn to do THAT? Flitting through the forest on long legs, a black pup showed up on the scene where Cheveyo and Eyolf were, noticed. Efron's eyes showed disappointment that his brother had been shocked so easily. And he was jealous only slightly that Cheveyo also had developed a power. It was wondrous singing, he had to admit, but he found his power more useful for his own antics. Not as easily captivated by the song, Efron grinned deviously, his dark eyes flashing in delight. He had discovered the ability of illusion, of Mirage when he often times went into the deep forest to escape his annoying siblings or the other wolves. He was after all, a bit of an introvert. And he had been practicing it all week. He had gotten to a level where slightly gullible Eyolf might fall for it, but Cheveyo, well he didn't know. And so the pup sat in a darker patch of long grass, just waiting for his chance, silently listening to the howl of his sister.
Oh yes we will see, now won't we? Heh heh heh...

As the little female ran out of breath to continue her song she practically hyperventalated from laughing so hard at her brother Eyolf's reaction. Little Cheveyo rolled back in the grass in a bundle of giggles as she tried to catch her breath. Yea like she could be a ghost! Pshaw! But the thought made her giggle a little harder until she finally caugh her breath agian.
Sitting back up she smiled mischeviously at her brother, "See what I got!" her smile was a mile wide. A power finally! It worked so well too and the pup had a feeling that if she practiced it could be even more beautiful. "Your not the only one with a power any more!"

| Pouting possibly more than he ever had at both being tricked and in envy at his sister, Eyolf's eyes were unhappy, yet laughing at the same time. Curse those stupid ghosts! Oh, wait, it wasn't ghosts. Eyolf pouted even more than he already was, if possible. He looked at his sister as she began bragging about her new power, her singing. Eyolf, like any pup with siblings was ready with a come back, -"You call that a power? Ha! Makes you seem even more like a ghost behind all that fur, sis! Hahaha!" But Eyolf than muttered in an audible voice, -"That was scary... don't do that singing thing again behind me!" Than that devious smile alighted Eyolf's beige puppy face again, slightly floppy ears flopping. A small heh heh heh came out of him.
Time for payback! Eyolf asked politely of his sister, -"Hey Cheveyo? Can I show you something? It's REALLY cool! Little did he tell his sister on his own way here he had come across a rattlesnake that most likely still wandered the fields around the pups. Eyolf had no trouble escaping as a bird, but the random snake encounter left him shocked earlier. Now he was going to try and get his sister to see Mr.Scary, the rattlesnake. Or if he wasn't there, he'd just turn himself into Mr.Scary, hahaha!
Here comes Mr.Scary!

With all her dignity she could muster up she took her brother's insult on. Little Cheveyo was defiantly not a female that was easy to push around or make mad. Not usually anyways. Today was a normal day and with her excitement of the new power within her still fresh she got of her anger to make her classic, "Whateve Eyolf" and roll her eyes at her brother's scaredy cat comment, "You know their are no such things as ghosts and if I was a ghost I think I would make a good one."
Chev's nose was pointed in a bit of attitude twords the sky until she heard her brother say something that peaked the little pups intrest. "Really? What is it?!" In less than a second the she-pup had lept to her small, but fleet, paws and looked at her brother with an intense curiosity to know what he was going to show her. Her necklace of hawk feathers blew gentley in the cool fall breeze and sent a small shiver down her spine. But it was not a shiver of fear as she was soon to encounter, to lack of her knowlage, but of the coming of the season that the pack dreaded. Winter.

It wasn't just the two male pups that had heard Cheveyo's singing. Ayria found herself drawn to it, wondering who it was that was causing such a beautiful sound. To her knowledge, no one in the pack had that kind of power. Had someone developed something new? It wasn't unheard of: she was in the process of learning some new tricks of her own. Still, the sound had roused her curiosity, and so her quest for prey was interrupted in favor of her quest to find the source of the singing.
Her quest led her to the scent of the three pups, and continued to the pups themselves. The three were otherwise alone in this part of the pack's territory. Ayria would be worried, but she the pups were safe in the pack territory as long as they didn't do anything reckless. Still, she couldn't simply leave them on their own now that she was here. Instead, she sat down a short distance away - still in view of the pups - and settled in to watch over them.

| Eyolf pouted slightly at her response, muttering, -"There are so ghosts," Not wanting to interfere with his hopeful revenge, he waited for a reply from Cheveyo on his offer. Bingo! Eyolf half smirked as the adventurous side got the better of him. And she seemed hyped up and ready to go! Turning around, the beige pup waved his tail about and yelled loudly and excitedly, -"You'll see, it's super cool! Let's go, sis!" And without a second thought, Eyolf dashed off, unaware of the near by Ayria watching them only a bit away. Eyolf's eyes gleamed as he thought of his plans, Mr.Scary time! Morphing into a bird of prey in the blink of an eye, a golden eagle to be exact, he hovered only feet above the ground as he drifted towards the snake...
Pick up the snake and drop it on her head!

This goes so perfectly with the post I reccomend listening to it while you read, Mermaids by Hans Zimmer. When you get to the part where it say SNAP you should be at about 5:10. Just for refference(: Giggling with excitement, Cheveyo, took off on a fleet footed run to race her brother. She was not aware of Ayria watching over them, or the fact that she would face death with a happy smile, expecting something fun and cool to be at the end of her journey. After this encounter, whether the she-pup knew it or not, she would seen Ayria in a whole new manner. Not just as a pack guardian but more as a caring mother than anything else. Her brothers always had a way of leading her into trouble without her knowing it, but this was just too far for even them. The pups had no knowing of a rattlesnakes deadly bite, how it could kill a grown wolf so quickly and a young pup in even less time. It could kill without a second thought, without notice if not given enough time to warn it's victim.
Her small black locks of hair blew in the crisp fall wind. The wind seemed to grow stronger as she ran on the well trodden hunting path. It seemed to be warning her to turn around, go back, leave, danger is near here. But she did not take and notice to this, to young to know what the signs of the wind and grass meant. The peaceful and golden prairie grasses even seemed eerie, when they always seemed so welcoming and warm. She raced her brother on his wings only feet from the snake without noticing it curled up behind a rock to try to keep warm on this cool fall day. Looking up she noticed her brother looking at something in front of her. But it was too late to stop and as she ran across...
Then she heard what wolves try to avoid.
SNAP
The she-pup let out a scream of fear and pain. A lightheaded adrenaline rush entering her mind almost instantly as the snake took hold of her leg. Cheveyo struggled in the rattlesnakes grip, letting out squeals of pain as the snake dug it's fangs deeper into her right leg, it's tail rattling it anger and the toxic poison entering her blood. What was happening!? It hurt too bad and she struggled with as much strength that she could muster. The she-pup was completely drowned in her own fear, that as the snake let loose and slither back into the deep grasses, that she felt light headed much more than just a adrenaline rush, forcing her to dizzily lay down. The poison of the snake coursed through her veins sending waves of pain through her leg and waves of fear through her mind.
Cheveyo looked down to her bleeding leg, crying at the sight of her blood dripping from the two puncture wounds in her right leg. What had her brother led her into?! She would never trust him again after this. Not after he made her feel as much pain as this. Never. She bawled openly now, the pain more intense than anything the she-pup had ever experienced before, still not sure what had just happened.
Little Cheveyo was so close to death, that even if she couldn't feel it, death was breathing down her neck. Read to grab hold and force her away from her lovely life that she had known for so little of a time.
[[OCC: I got such an adrenaline rush when writing this.... Ahhh... Poor little Cheveyo! I feel so sorry for her! Maybe she inherited this death thing from her father? Maybe the necklaces have something to do with it? Shesh I never even noticed the similarities between Ricochet and Cheveyo before this post. Not to mention Cheveyo and her mum's deadly similar looks. O.o]]

| As Eyolf was just about to put his plan in action, his fierce eagle eyes widened with both fright and shock. It was all a blur, Cheveyo screamed, a moment later she was lying flat on the rock, a wound to the leg evident. The eagle paled, with Eyolf's soul filling with guilt and terror. This wasn't supposed to happen! It wasn't supposed to bite! And now Cheveyo seemed sick, poison? The darn snake was poisonous!? Knowing in the darkest part of his mind that her death could be his fault... He could be a puppy murdurer! Screeching in horror at the thought, without a second thought the impulsive pup dove down, talons stretched out. Heading toward Cheveyo, he scooped up the female pup none to gently, but avoiding impaling her with the same talons, and with a blank mind he soared as fast as a a weighed down eagle could. Landing before Ayria, he let Cheveyo loose. The eagle was trembling, the eyes filled with terror. He slowly transformed back to his own shape and he screamed and bawled in front of Ayria, -"HELP HER PLEASE! MR.SCARY Bit HER OR SOMETHIN', AHHHHHHHHH!," The pup was so overwhelmed by emotion he suddenly dropped to the ground, fairly either unconscious or in shock, but fine.
Ohhh... she's gonna die 'cause of me... why? why?

Eyolf led Cheveyo somewhere and Ayria stood, intending to walk to where she could still view all the pups. What she didn't count on was the scream and rattle that came shortly after, or the panicked pup-turned-raptor that carried the now-wounded Cheveyo to her feet, screaming for help as he resumed his normal form.
She didn't catch the entire situation. She didn't need to. She was quick to determine what was wrong with the pup - with the rattling sound, puncture wounds, and her quick, severe turn for the worse it could be nothing other than a snake bite. She would have to act fast to save the poor pup's life.
Ayria pressed her nose against the wound and concentrated, willing the poison out of Cheveyo's body before it could do any further harm. Once it was gone, she would focus on repairing the damage the bite and resulting venom caused.

The pup lack energy to sob in pain like she wanted to. Instead she layed their with a tingly feeling pulsing through her body. She felt better as Ayria healed her. Cheveyo was not a stupid pup and had seen the new alphess, and her mother-like figure, heal others in their pack during times of need. The she-pup could sense deep thought from the healer as she focused on trying to will the poison inflicted from the bite of the rattle snake from the small pups blood.
Ayria was calm, but Cheveyo was not. More in shock than anything she let out a scared whimper but stayed still under the alphess touch. She felt light headed, but not the same kind from death; more as if from lack of breath. As the she-pup realized this, trying to be as cooperative as possible, she let more oxygen enter lungs. It came out more shakily, as of now Chev was a bit of a nervous wreak.
Too many question spun though her mind from the split second it happened to Ayria suddenly being there to heal her. But the big one that rang out was what had the pup just saw. She could have sworn it was her Mother. Her Mother indeed it had to have been, but who was the male with her? It certainly wasn't the male she had known to be her Father.

| Miracle in the making, Eyolf watched as Ayria wordlessly focused on healing the poisoned Cheveyo. His brown eyes were heavily concerned for the life of his sister. Suppressing his guilt, he watched sullenly. If he had let his guilt run wild, he would have been destroyed by it. Mors's death, a wolf he had only known for a few days, had caused the pup to brood and blame himself. But his sister? That was whole different story. He would need to remember to thank Ayria every day of his life. But somehow, deep in his heart, he had a feeling his sister was undergoing something more than just this tragic event...

The process was slower than she would have liked. Ayria wanted nothing more than to be able to make her healing instant. The power took time, though. It had to. This was a complex wound and she needed to closely monitor the progression of the healing through the young pup's body.
She was relieved, though. The pup was suffering right now, but she would live. A little more time spent on the wound would heal her. There was no telling what sort of emotional turmoil would result from the snake encounter, but they would all deal with that in its own time. Hopefully, her youth would help her to bounce back and return to her old self again. Maybe the emotional turmoil wouldn't happen. She hoped for that outcome but didn't expect it.
Cheveyo whimpered and Ayria gave her a couple reassuring licks. It wouldn't be long now. The poison was gone and the damaged tissues were already in the process of knitting them back together. The pup's breathing was better than it had been, though it was shaky. That would steady itself in time. It was only the wound that required her attention for now.
The bite grew steadily smaller as the healing continued, and eventually closed. Only then did Ayria lift her head to look around at the pups and their surroundings. She couldn't see or smell the snake, which meant it didn't pose a danger. For the moment.
"That was a close call." She sighed, half in exhaustion and half in relief. "But you'll be all right. You're safe, now."

What have I seen?
Was my fate in front of me?
Who could it be? Cheveyo whimpered and pulled her paw close to her. Searching it for any signs or real weaknesses, instead she was a set of new scars. Two white dots, one on either side of her original x-like scar. The dots would be permanent reminder to the she-pup of her attacker and would teach her to be more aware of her surroundings, it would not take the puppy play out of her. No- not at all- but make her a just a little more of an introvert than she was before.
The little pup curled up next to the mother like figure of Ayria. The snake was terrifying, but it had opened her mind to something all new. Cheveyo was certain that the female she had seen in her vision was her mother and the male was completely unknown to her. But she had heard surprising words from her mother to the male she knew not to be her father. Sara had said I love you to him. But why? Who was he? Defiantly not her father. Or, at least, she didn't think so.
The little female laid curled up next Ayria thinking for a minute or so before she spoke, her voice still shaky. The she-pup needed and wanted to tell the alphess what she had saw. She needed to know if she was just imagining things or if she had really seen it. It seemed so real. Like Cheveyo as there sitting right behind her mother and the male with the golden green eyes. He was wearing Cheveyo's necklace too. It made her shiver. Sara had given the necklace to her, but had never bothered to explain where it had came from. But the little she-wolf shook the many thoughts from her mind. First thing first. Tell Ayria that she saw something. Something so real, but unreal, at the same time.
"Ayria. I saw something... When the snake bit me."
I could have been a child that got took home. I would have been one more unfinished song. I guess it wasn't my time.
