He was running in his sleep, again. His paws scraped along the ground, and not feeling a single sharp pain from it. His breathing was deep and fast, his body twitched, and his teeth were bared.
"Zane!! Run! Now!" her voice howled through the trees. They rung in his ears, and he took not split second to think about what she said. He could see the brute force that was charging his way. His eyes looked like the red of blood from the wolves he's killed. And his teeth were stained an awful yellow and brown. Turn took off through the trees to avoid the mass that wanted to end his life. He dodged through the trees and could feel that he was getting closer.
"You think you can, but you can't run away from me!" a merciful chuckled followed after the deep voice. Rosco was not one to tick off. And just as soon as he thought he had gotten far enough, a weight so heavy came down on him, his body was stuck. It was two of his leaders henchwolves. Of course, he knew he would loose so he was able to get his way again. "Zane, you were left alive, but now you have had your stay... Time to say goodbye" Zane turned around after the wolves got up, a large white tower hovered over him. "Fine, since no one can leave, I'll have to fight for my freedom" the young wolf replied. He only laughed, his deep laugh rumbled through the forest. And with the move, he reached in to bite the side of his face, and he left his mark.
Blood trickled down the white fur, and then the fight was on. But before he could make another move, the wolf grew. He could only watch as Rosco grew taller than the trees. He only stood in terror, he had no chance. And just the like, jaws surrounded his hole body, and he left the pain of his bones snapping.
His eyes jolted open, and he could feel the whimpers and cries escaping his mouth. His body was sore. He stood up and saw the scratching in the rocks, dust and leaves. That dream always did that to him. He looked up at the moon that peaked through the trees then looked down at his paws. "When will that dream ever go away..."

Elanora had been watching the old male as he kicked and thrashed upon the forest floor. At last he awoke from his nightmare, his last desperate cries fading in the still night air. He did not meet her gaze as he whispered something to himself.
Elanora’s gaze drifted from Xane to the still forest surrounding them. Her ears twitched to the quiet hum of summertime insects, and at the distant hoot of an owl she felt a sudden urge to run after the bird and lose herself in the dark woods. Redirecting her thoughts, Elanora laid her black-and-blue head back on the ground. She found her eyes drifting back to Xane. Clear silvery grey those eyes were, unjudgmental, unassuming. The young she-wolf wondered briefly what nightmares haunted her alpha, but wasted no further thought upon the matter. Xane’s issues were Xane’s issues.
She found that she could not go back to sleep. This was not an uncommon issue with Elanora; once awake it was difficult for her to shut her brain back off again. Secretly she wanted now to leave Xane to his troubles and go take a swim in the nearest river; but, she suppressed these desires. It was not proper, she thought, to take a swim alone at midnight.
So Elanora amused herself by staring straight ahead, and concentrating until beads of water formed in the air above her nose. To do this took a good deal of thought and effort; being only two years of age meant that she had only a small window of practice beneath her belt. But Elanora loved to play with water, and her skills were steadily advancing. The suspended droplets of water multiplied in size, until she crushed them into a small ball of liquid and cast it into the shadows.

His eyes shaded into a dark blue, he had realized where he was at, but he felt slightly embarrassed. His eyes turned back to their usualy color, a greenish yellow. Knowing that his pack member was near. He turned hiis head to her, noticing she was using her water control. He smirked, then spoke up, "sorry for another midnight wake up, Elenora." he coughed after. Lately the nightmares had been getting worse, same start, different death. But he was always the one dying. He settled back down onto the forest floor, he would be restless in the morning. He usually has a hard time falling back asleep. He felt bad for her, this has been an on going thing for quiet some time. He doesn't know why they started up, but he obviously knows the reason behind them.
"Have you ever had a reoccurring nightmare? And whatever you do, it doesn't go away... Like you have to do something in order for them to vanish into your thoughts..." his voice was low and calm, but his nerves inside were still jumping. He had always wondered if there was a way to get rid of these nightmares, it shouldn't be something he should loose sleep over. After all, it is just a dream. They have no meaning.
He concentrated on a few cracked rocks that laid in front of him. Most likely victims of his sleep running. He narrowed his eyes until they started to quiver on the ground, then slowly make their way to the height of his muzzle. He made them swirl and dance, as it usually calmed his mind. The rocks looked so delicate and they swirled helplessly in the fixed trance he held upon them.

|- A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes - | Dreams. Dreams had the power to shift reality, change lives, rewrite history and shape the future. Should you follow your dreams? Kassander guessed you should. More often than not a question could be answered by some blurry glimpse of a dream. Should dreams be reality? If reality could be anything like the dream the pup was having now, well, he sure wished they could.
Some wolves say living inside your head is a recipe for madness. Quite the contrary, Kassander would rather occupy this dream scape for eternity than deal with the minuscule hardships of his life. The puppy was stumbling along in grass that was far too tall for his paws to clear. His head was bobbing up and down in the horizon as Kassander yipped and howled in pure joy to be in such a lovely place. His dark brown eyes shifted to either side of him as he realized he was in the company of two other wolves. The two of them were familiar figures in his dreams but he just didn't know who they were. He got the express feeling that he loved them however and was thus, happy to be in their midst. The two wolves, one male, one female, also seemed to be happy with him.
His dark eyes squared onto the horizon as he squinted them closed as he made a giant lead above the tips of the grass. When he landed, he heard a crunch. The place he was in now was different and very much more sinister. He was alone now and fear stirred in the gut of the sandy-furred whelp. He glanced around, feeling that the presence of the two other wolves would make him feel better but he was alone.
Kassander never really violently woke from dreams where he experience negative emotions, but he often woke in a mild panic. He did so now as his eyes slid open and he was aware that his heart was racing. He blinked before giving a sigh, a frustrated whine coming after. He hated how his sleep was interrupted by his nightmares. They had been happening less and less often now that he had settled into his new home but there was a suffocating feeling he could not shake. It often plagued him as he attempted to drift back to sleep.
His ears perked as he heard the sound of other wolves. His head still on the ground, his eyes roved the dark in front of him and picked out the shadows of Zane and Elanora. A small smile came to his face as he began to feel better since the two of them were awake as well. He shifted himself onto his stomach -- as he had previously been laying on his side -- and rested his head on his paws. Too sleepy to contribute to the conversation but lively enough to want to listen until he fell asleep.|- When You're Fast Asleep - | OOC: *waves hysterically* Hi! pack buddies!

Elanora listened half-heartedly to Xane’s question. “No,” she responded simply, and then she shot the alpha a look that could only be described as piercing. “I do have a suggestion, however: accept whatever has happened to you in your past, and move on.” For that brief sentence her soft voice took on a different, more serious tone. And then Elanora rose, her movements quick and precise. Giving her pelt a shake to rid it of the odd leaf or twig, Elanora tilted her head back to Xane. “How about a jaunt through the woods?” she proposed, her cold grey eyes shining in the moonlight. Elanora knew that the pack could catch up on their sleep in the middle of the day, when it was hot and sluggish. Now the summer air was delightfully chilly, and the darkness of the woods was enticing. Whether it was a hunt, a swim, or a mere tour of the area, Elanora was itching to be out and moving.
When she heard a muffled sigh, Elanora suddenly remembered Kassander. She glanced at the tawny-colored pup, feeling a twinge of displeasure creeping up her spine. He was a fire wolf; Elanora had always had a natural aversion to them, no doubt because they controlled opposite elements. Elanora forced herself to swallow her repugnance, knowing that she didn’t have anything personal against the young whelp. Elanora stepped past Kassander and slipped into the shadows, her black and blue pelt melting into the blackness. She knew she hadn’t had permission from Xane yet, but she was an impatient wolf and she was eager to be off, Xane or not.

His ear twitched when he heard the pup behind him, kassander was new. Personally, Zane thought he had done a good deed taking the pup in. He felt a little sorry for the poor guy. Being out in the world on his own. It wouldn't hurt to help mold the fresh mind into the ways of a new pack. He heard her responses, to him they seemed rather cold. And as far as him accepting what happen? He isn't sure he can accept the loss of his love. But what she thinks and what he thinks are different. What works for her, works for her. But what works for him, is still being discovered.
He watched as she got up impatiently, she didn't wait very long for him to answer her. He shrugged. He turned off his attention towards the floating pebbles in front of him and stood up. He shook off the debris from him coat. He had quiet a bit on his right side from the sleep running. He glanced at Kassander, unsure if he should just leave him alone. He began to mark his territory a lot more since he had arrived to him and elenora. He became worried that unfamiliar wolves would harm kassander.
He decided if they had stuck close by, and if he had his smelling sensemon high he would be fine. Maybe mark a little extra in the process. Why not be a little productive in this walk? The alpha began walking after Elenora, catching up to match her pace. The summer night air was relaxing and the slow breeze was calming. The wind whispered through his ears, and scents of his markings from earlier that day blew past his nose and he smiled to himself. He looked at her, the silence was a bit more than he could handle ,"I've sensed some tension from you towards kassander... He makes you uneasy...?" he pointed out. He looked at her, with curiosity. He knew she was a water wolf and he was fire. But at the same time, he is still very young. He isn't a threat, especially since he will be raised with wolves of a different element.

| - In Dreams You Lose Your Heartaches - |Kassander's ear twitched at Elenora's response to Zane. He thought it might have been a bit too cold for a comment between pack mates but then, the beta female was not exactly the warmest wolf around. Kassander liked her enough but then, he liked most everyone. The pup smiled a little more again, thinking that Zane might have been caught off guard by her demeanor. He blinked, his eyes becoming suddenly heavy with sleep. Resistance was futile for it would eventually claim him as it always did. He became slightly more alert when Elenora walked past him, the urge to follow occurring to him. However, Kassander was truly lazy and sluggish, wanting to sleep instead. So he did, and his brown eyes were covered by lids behind which his lost memories played. It did not take him long to fall into the thick of sleep. Kassander rolled onto his back, his fluffy front paws resting on his chest as he mouth opened and closed with his breathing. He probably wouldn't wake again until morning. |- Whatever You Wish For, You Keep -|

Elanora kind of hoped Xane would stay behind with the pup; but, alas, she heard his footsteps coming up behind her, dashing her dreams of going for a lone swim. But Elanora took it in stride, glancing at the alpha as he strode up beside her. He was admittedly a wolf intimidating in appearance, with a body that seemed made entirely of lean, mean muscle. But Elanora fairly sure that his mind was less formidable.
Elanora’s mind had just drifted into the rustling tree leaves, when Xane’s masculine voice cut through the silence. Her ears flicked back briefly in annoyance. She hadn’t thought anyone would notice her slightly apprehensive relationship with the new pup. “Yes, he does. It’s a water thing; you wouldn’t understand.” Elanora brushed it off with a flick of her blue-streaked tail. “Just give me a couple weeks, I’ll get over it,” she said.
“Mind if we go to the pond?” Elanora knew of a small (but deep) pond not too far away from their sleeping place. Of course I pick a place with water, how original, she thought with an inward laugh. The young she-wolf angled toward the pond’s direction, moving swiftly and elegantly down an old deer trail.

He smirked at her' "you wouldn't understand" comment. Every element has a weakness. But he wouldn't argue. When she mentioned the pond idea, he figured it would be something she would want to do. He was half heartedly thinking about turning back to watch Kassander. But he decided he would stay with Elenora for a bit.
He nodded when she turned down the direction to the pond. Silence seemed to suit the setting and mood between them. It was quiet outside, the summer bugs were chriping and clicking around them as they moved through the grass. The sounds grew louder as they neared closer to the pond. It seems to be a hot gathering place for cicadas, grasshoppers and dragonflies and crickets. The sounds around him eased his nerves. He had nearly forgotten why he woke up in the first place.

|- Alone In The Night You Whisper -|He was in that dark forest again, perhaps int he same place he was the last time he had experienced this dream. It wasn't new to him and so, he wasn't feeling as frightened. He glanced around. It was quiet and a silver mist was floating above the black, rotting vegetation of the forest. He was alone again but, he could cope this time. One tawny paw stepped forward as he advanced through the dream scape, not sure of what he would find but desperately wanting to know where it would lead. All the while, his ears were swiveling this way and that and ever vigilant brown eyes scanned the horizon. He was still alone however. Suddenly, a sound to his left. His head snapped in that direction as he froze, starting to get nervous. However, is apprehension was assuaged when the female wolf from earlier burst through the bushes. She seemed panic but the pup was ignorant to what. She rushed past him and Kassander stayed in the same spot, still thoroughly confused. The wolf stopped and turned back to him, the panic in her eyes more apparent than ever, she opened her mouth to say something but then Kassander guessed a figure caught her eye. It had somehow gotten darker and the pup was suddenly aware of a ...breathing sound. In short bursts, there was warmth upon his head, making his fur stand on end. With eyes wide, he slowly turned to see what was behind him. What he laid his eyes on......was a leaf. he had woken up before he had gotten to see what was behind him. The sand colored pup lifted his head, shaking the grogginess away. He was alone in the clearing as he stood, shaking himself again before shooting off int he direction he thought Zane and Elenora had disappeared off into. He did so very much like running and could do it for hours on end if only he would not tire. He let the night air calm him as he caught up to the others. He found no need to speak with them but nonetheless jauntily fell into step behind Zane, his mouth parted slightly. He kind of wondered where they were headed but his question was dropped as he started to snap at the various insects that were around them. He would have to wait and see, and in that, was the fun. | - Thinking No One Can Hear You At All -|

The gentle silence remained, even as Kassander came up from behind. Elanora led them deeper into the woods, slipping off of the deer trail and heading down into the hollow in which the pond lay. She moved through the berry bushes that dotted the rim, suddenly catching sight of the pond's glittering surface. Forgetting the two wolves behind her, Elanora broke into a smooth lope, and in one bound she leapt into the water.
Her body broke the still surface, making it come alive in sprays and waves of liquid. Elanora, delighted, sunk into the water. Completely submerged, she opened her eyes, playfully watching the small fish dart around her. Elanora snapped at them, bubbles slipping from her muzzle. She kicked out with her hind legs, swimming to the bottom of the pond. Settling into the sand, Elanora took a deep breath through her gills. She grew still, just relishing the cool feeling of the water. After a few seconds, Elanora's face lit up in a wolfish grin. She closed her eyes, and concentrated as hard as she could, her mind gaining control over the water around her. Suddenly she thrust a massive wave toward the shore where the two wolves were most likely waiting. Elanora giggled to herself as her grey eyes glinted happily in the water.

Zanes ear twitched when heard the snapping of a tiny set of jaws close behind him. He turned his head and spotted kassander chasing the summer bugs. He smiled, knowing he wouldn't have to worry about leaving the pup behind. When he turned back around to follow Elenora, she was at a steady lope towards her haven. Once she is around her element; quiet literally, she seems happiest. And he doesn't mind that some of her personality is a bit cold for him. But who is he to judge, he came from the worst possible pack. And a personality like hers is defiantly heaven compared to what he had to deal with.
He watched her sum merge under the pond water. He could tell she was at ease when she was doing what she loved best. He decided to sit this one out, as tempting as it was, he only went to keep an eye on one of the few pack mates he had. Being afraid something would happen. Drowning, surprise rogue attack, random collapsing. He worried about every member. He decided to just lay by the bushes in the grass that grew rapidly by the pond. It was comfortable, and he would about of the way of the water. Not that he didn't like water, he just didn't want to get wet.
He listened to the small waves crashing against the lip of the pond and mixtures of the bugs irritably click and hiss from the disturbance in the summer air. He Listened to the snap of kassanders jaws as he went after the bugs. Nights like these, he nearly hadmforgetten where he came from. It was so peaceful and calm, he let his head rest on his crossed paws and let his eyes rest. He was still awake, but the relaxing aura around him made it impossible for him not to take the relaxing invitation.

|- Your Rainbow Will Come Smiling Through -| So this is where they had been headed to: this lake/pond thing. Kassander hadn't actually noticed that they had arrived until he realized he was no longer following Zane -- his alpha having retreated to some foliage. Being a wolf with a fiery predilection, one might think Kassander did not like water, however, the pup did very much enjoy playing in it. Maybe he would grow to dislike it but he couldn't have cared less as he ran to the edge of the lake, his sandy paws sinking into the cool black water. He caught his reflection in the moonlight for a split second and stood there staring. His eyes brightened as he saw the small sliver fish darting this way and that. It soon turned into a mad dash to try and nab them. He looked up only when he heard a whoosh!. The pup was met by the sight of a sizable wave headed straight toward him. He uttered a yip before trying to wade through water that came up to his chest but it was inevitable. He had never been frightened for he knew that Elenora was the cause of this phenomenon. She wouldn't hurt him. The pup began to giggle as the wave picked up his body weight, his head staying above water, and transported him onto the shore. He lay there, a sopping wet mess as he got to his paws for a shake. "Alright then,", Kassander muttered quietly to no one in particular, "You asked for it! I'm coming into get you!"Kassander reared onto his hind legs before giving a valiant charge and splashing into the pond. He swam in circles before dipping his head underwater. It truly was like a whole other world. Everything seemed so ethereal that Kassander actually forgot what he was doing in the first place. He resurfaced to gain another bracing breath of air before ducking back under, pushing against the water pressure to hover above Elenora near the surface. He tried to keep himself submerged but he would always float back to the surface. Kassander's eyes narrowed as he gave his pack member a toothy grin, forfeiting the fight against buoyancy and returning to the surface.

Elanora’s ears pricked underwater as she heard faint splashes overhead. She looked up, and was surprised to find Kassander grinning down at her. He soon ran out of breath, however, and resurfaced, his little paws kicking at the water. Elanora kicked out, propelling herself up from the pond’s sandy bottom, sliding up through the water like a fish. She gave the swimming pup a playful nip on his hind paw, before darting away through the murky water.
Elanora cast her gaze over a sea of drifting green vegetation sprouting up from the pond floor, and drifted down to land amongst the swaying plants. Growing still, Elanora watched the small fish darting to and fro around her, frantic from all the strange activity in their home. She wished she was one of them, darting gracefully through the water. But Elanora changed her mind when she saw a larger fish snap up a nearby minnow; suddenly she was greatful to be a wolf. At least her kind weren’t cannibals.
Elanora perked up when she saw the larger fish drifted around her hiding place in the weeds. Her body tensed, her mouth opening slightly in sweet anticipation. In a sudden blur of motion, Elanora lunged forward. Her jaws snapped, and to her joy she found them closing around the fish’s plump body. Elanora crunched down, then gave it a quick shake, which stopped its wriggling. Over her two year lifespan she had become quite skilled at catching marine creatures, and developed a taste for them.
Remembering Kassander’s lack of fear towards the water, Elanora figured she owed him some extra courtesy. Pushing herself off the bottom, Elanora clamped her jaws tight around the fish and carried it upwards toward the surface. She saw the moonlight playing above her on the top of the water, and in a few short seconds she broke through the barrier. The brisk air outside felt suddenly cold compared to the still, unchanging tides below. Elanora caught sight of Kassander floating nearby, and she paddled past him, letting him have a teasing glance at the large fish in her mouth.
Reaching the shore, Elanora gave her pelt a quick shake to rid it of the weighty water. “Who wants to try some fish?”

Zane watched as the pup joined her in the water. He smiled. He paid attention for how Elenora would react. And to his surprise, she joined in with him. He has hoped there would be a break through between them. No matter what kind of an elemental wolf you are. You can always find a common ground to relate to. And theirs, was water. Even though kassander was a fire pup, it was obvious that he didn't care. He is still young, he likes to play. And a playful pup is what would make Elenora come out of her shell.
