Kassander laughed at the nip he received and started to paddle in small circles, currently enjoying the cool water. The night was wonderful and the pup felt he was swimming in shadows as the moonlight turned the water black and made it shimmer like onyx.

He stopped paddling when the fish in Elenora's mouth caught his attention. He gave a happy yip and tried to make a grab for it but the waves sent his way by the passing female just made him bob up and down. Kassander rebounded however, and kicked his small legs, working his way toward shore.

"I want some!", the pup squeaked as he tried to gain a footing on the pond bottom. He wasn't quite in shallow water yet but he did make it eventually.

He crawled on shore and shook as he ran toward Elenora, stopping just in front of the fish that was as large as he.

"Wow!, Kassander barked in wonder.

Elanora dropped the fish with a plunk! on the wet ground, then took a hold of the tail. After placing her paw on the fish’s head and forcing her weight down on it, she expertly pulled the scaly carcass apart. The fresh pale meat inside was revealed, making Elanora’s mouth water. She suppressed the urge to wolf the whole thing down. Laying down the she-wolf began to chew on the head of the fish, her relaxed body language showing that Kassander was free to join in.

Elanora crunched through the fish’s skull, and quickly cleaned out the high-calorie brains inside. This was a favorite treat for most predators, and Elanora was no exception. With that finished, she went to work on picking off the rest of the treats: the eyeballs, and the occasional bit of juicy flesh that clung to the bony cranium. Having finished up the head, Elanora took a moment to lick her lips clean. Taking a glance at Kassander, she asked, “Well, what do you think?” She guessed this was the pup’s first taste of fish.
