Sira. The soft winds blew past her. Ruffling her fur as it went by. She sat on the hill over looking the abandoned cabin. It was the night before the last night in the cabin before they would make their move back into regular territory. She couldn't sleep. In fact, she had gotten minimal sleep for the last two weeks. Her heart ached and her stomach was swelled. The stress of it all was almost too much for her to handle.
Within the last year of her arrival into the eastern pack. It was just Thor and her. Then they lack grew and so did their feelings for each other. When he made her Alphess, she also became his lover. They ruled the pack together. And then came mating season. Of course they participated. And shortly before the end of the winter season, he vanished. No where to be found. Not a scent to follow. He left her alone with the pack in the weakest of times. She looked down at her stomach, the thought of carrying his puppies made her depressed and sick. But she knew having them would strengthen the pack. And she also knew as soon as she would have them, the quicker she could return to ruling the pack. And getting things back in order.
She looked up to the night sky, wondering if by some odd chance he was flying over. She longed for his return and his companionship. Maybe it was just the hormonal change. But most importantly, she wanted to howl out in pain. The birthing on her liter was right around the corner, and she could feel in nearing closer and closer. Or maybe it was the loss of Thor and him leaving her in change alone in such a weak condition. "Why did you do this to me..." her head hung low. She cringed slightly, they were definatly ready to come out. But was she really ready for it all to happen at once?

Hints small orange orbs watched the distressed alphess from a distance, through the cracks of the cabin wall. Most of the packs sleeping bodies were curled on the floor as their souls wandered. After a few more minutes of watching the alpha female, her skeletal figure left the safety of the cabin, the wind threatening to whisk her spotted black body from her and leave her alone and mute with the alphess. But the wind decided better and left the thin black frame with her, hardly a relief since Hint had no words of comfort for Siras crumbled heart. Maybe it would be best if the wind swept the alphess' body away, and left just her here so she wouldnt feel the pain of a heart. But she was too heavy to be swept away with the remaining forgotten leaves of last autumn. Once the pups were born she would be lighter, not as light at Hint, but one day she could be as light at Hint. But not lighter. Hint smiled. No wolf would ever be lighter, she wouldnt let that happen.
She sat next to the alpha female without a word. There wasnt much to say. No words comfort a broken heart, not even time. She would have to find peace within herself. And Hint would give her company until the wind was ready to sweep her away.

| Emerald green eyes stared out at the night sky from a crack within the dilapidated cabin. Lysander was resting, lying down, but with his front legs stretched out before him and his head raised, looking out at the world form the small comfort of the cabin. While most of the pack was asleep and weary (Rightfully so, he thought.), he was anxious, but cool-headed. The Ethiopian native was smaller than many, if not all the wolves here, and he was relatively new, but he had not needed to be an old member to see the pain in the eyes of the wolves as they remembered Thor. No, he might not be dead, he was still missing, but he was as good as dead when he was missing. The wolf got up silently, his cat-claws sealed within his paws and his Invisibility activated, he had a good minute of full invisibility at least. He crept out of the cabin with not a sound and heard the crunch of fallen, old leaves and smashed, light snow. The snow was almost nearly gone, but it was their in bits and pieces. He turned his maroon body and spied Hint and Sara. He wasn't so much an idiot as not to know Sara was pregnant, and soon the squeals of pups would be heard. He nearly cringed when he thought of the pain Sara must be going through, what with the loss of her mate and the stress of pregnancy. Even if he was a male. He stalked quietly behind the cabin, his Invisibility fading and he sighed as he sat down, to think. He made a slight wisp of light appear in front of him, just to illuminate a small area around him, but not so bright that others would awake.

Thor's disappearance had devastated the pack. He was their leader, after all. They needed him. Sira especially needed him. The poor alphess had had to manage the pack on her own, as well as care for herself. Every day she survived, but every day she seemed clsoe to the breaking point.
Safo couldn't let her break. If Sira got to the point where she could no longer care for the pack, that would leave Safo in the lead, and she certainly wasn't ready for that much responsibility. Not only that, she couldn't let her pack suffer. Not with the winter. Not with Moonrunner so close. The sooner they found Thor, the better.
And that was exactly what she had been trying to do.
Every moment spent awake and not feeding or drinking was spent in the territory, around the territory, dangerously close to the other packs' borders. Occasionally, she might catch a faint whiff of his scent, but it would be gone just as quickly, a fading memory. Each search ended up fruitless, without so much as a clump of fur to prove that he still existed.
Tonight was no different.
Exhausted, she limped back toward the cabin, afraid to break the news to Sira. The alphess was so fragile right now, and Safo had only more bad news for her. It wasn't right. Thor should be here, taking care of his mate and being with her as he had her pups.
Where was he?!
Nowhere, that's where.
She trudged into the cavern, limping heavily on her injured limb and only vaguely aware of the others. Her ears and tail were held low and she couldn't bring herself to raise her eyes and meet anyone's gaze.
She took a deep breath to steel herself, and then walked over to the alphess. She wasn't Thor, but she would have to do.

Sira. A mutual feeling of anger and sadness still sat inside of her. Anger for him just up and leaving and then sadness for him just up and leaving. She knew now isn't the time for her to mope. Especially with moving back into the territory is the next stage in her agenda. She had to be strong, for all of them. Even if she wasn't even strong for herself. With no experience running a pack all on her own, it was nerve racking knowing the pack fate rested in her paws. But she still felt grateful for every member that stood by her in her time of need.
She looked back up to the sky, a familiar scent brushed past her nose. "Please don't be sad for me, hint... It's just a phase that I am being tested with..." she softly spoke. Even thought she rightfully knew she had a good reason to be the way she was. "it's to see if I am ready to do this on my own..." her voice trailed off as she heard steps coming up behind her. It was safo, as she turned her head to see her, she noticed a small ball of light by the cabin. It seems her troubled thoughts weren't the only one in need of cooling night air.
With safo returning in such a slow pace she already knew the answer. Her head hung once more. "Safo, you're such a brilliant beta... Thank you for searching again..." she mustered out quietly. She winced lightly when she felt a pup move. "Knowing thor... He must have had a good reason for leaving like he did... He was such a head strong and persistent wolf. Whatever fate he chose for him and us, he knew it was going to be great..." even thought he left her alone, she still spoke words of greatness for him.

No words came from Hints small black jaws.. Everything that could be said was cliche and wouldn't bring any real comfort to Siras heart. She flicked her black ears, and saw Safo approach. The alpha female spoke again, this time to the beta female. She seemed happy with Safos presence and hard work.
Hints thin frame rose a bit shakily, like she was putting in a lot of effort to move, and walked away. She would leave Safo and Sira together, she wasn't needed here.
