-♦-I wonder how long this will last?" Zafera.-♦- [/i] The pack was small now. But they did what they could to get by. There were only four wolves now. Winter took a toll on the pack. The wolves who stuck it out where Xane, Ren and Vesperi and herself. Renniasance and Xane were busy with pack duties, and this time she took time for herself to go for a small hunt. Usually they always hunted together, but the pack was scattered with other duties. Maybe a few rabbits? It was spring after all.
The forest was a wonderful place to hunt, it was flourished with prey. The green pelted wolf kept her body close to the ground, her ears were alert for her surroundings. It was an easily noticeable scent. Rabbit, such a good treat for the pack. She stalked the trail of the useless rodent. Her steps were comparable to walking on air. She stopped suddenly, she saw it. The creature was nibbling on grass. She made no further attempt to stall the kill. She chased after it, it scattered but her larger body quickly dove on top of the rabbit. It was dead upon the first snap. She smiled and dropped the limp body from her jaw. One down, a few more to go.
She snuck around the forest floor, not much was on her mind. But a chilling thought shot through her. She wondered how long her pack would stay as a pack. There were only four, it wasn't a strong number. It wasn't a feared number. But she knew her home would hold out as long as it could. She hadn't realized how far she had wandered. Before she knew it she was on the outskirts of the valley. It was still apart of her home. She sat down to examine the view.
Gentle breeze. Grass swaying. She smiled and closed her eyes. She could smell rain was on its way. She opened her eyes, towards the north she noticed dark skies. It looked like a big storm was on its way. It seemed appropriate for the spring season. She turned around, her tail relaxed and dragging. Time to finish what she started.

[bg=Black] | [bg=000022]Spring. That was the season now. Joy? She felt none about the season of rebirth's return, she much preferred autumn, or winter. Winter best suited her personality, but the lack of prey was annoying. Zephyrine stood atop a large ridge within Targe forest, where a forest clearing lye and she could get a fair view of her surroundings. Not that there was much to see in her opinion. Trees, Trees and more trees. Oh yay. Sure there was the offspring of her prey and the renewed vegetation, but did it matter to the bitter she-wolf? No. Zephyrine had her more positive emotions torn out of her, and all that was left was her internal drive, her anger, the raging fire. Yet, she was perfectly composed, not a single expression had played on the wolf's face for months, perhaps years. At least, none that could be considered perfectly expressive, except maybe the bouts of intense fury and anger.
... She was silent wolf, who if she needed to speak used her telepathy instead. If she did verbally speak, her voice would be gruff, from not being used and that was just the plain way she was. The bitter she-wolf usually did not care for anything beyond what she considered important. Usually the weather, rain or sun, was not especially important to her. But this was different. It was the hum in the air, the dampness of the scent and the clouds themselves. Her blue eyes, sharp, piercing, and analytical, mixed with bitter resentment, could see the heaviness of the clouds. They looked heavy, weighed down and if she didn't know better, would've thought it a miracle they even floated in the sky as they did.
Rain. The lands... flooding...? Tilting her head as if to get a better angle of view, the black, prickly coated she wolf contemplated. At her current vantage point, she would be fine, but... She knew it would rain and when it did, it might rain for days. The sheer number of clouds, their pitch black coloring, mixed with some dark grays where the suns shown from above the clouds, blocked, that view that stretched to the horizons and farther, were more than enough of an indication. It was not odd for Yellowstone to receive rain, not at all, especially in spring. She had known as she walked through this area there was a wolf pack within these forests and the valley just a little further beyond. Though she was truly a loner and knew, knew she did not work well with anyone or anything, the she-wolf had a feeling it was time. Time to join up somewhere. But for now she sat on her high hill, watching the ominous, foreboding clouds. She sat down, then she howled, but it was no normal howl. Using her Sonic Voice to her advantage, the she-wolf amplified the howl into a magnified, sharp, ear-piercing call that stretched for many, many miles. Anyone within the territory would easily be within earshot of that call. Lowering her snout, she ended her call and the she-wolf blue eyes twinkled with some emotion. She would wait.
Ah, and now it begins.

♦"I hope xane won't be mad..." Zafera.♦ Zafera was already near by the valley. The call was easily heard. She turned her head in the direction of the call. It was louder than a usual call... Most likely an Uuma power. Although, she had to admit the call sounded unfamiliar. No one in her pack had that sort of call. Maybe she could do some investigation of her own. Xane would probably not mind. Seeing as she has found lone wolves to bring into the pack in the past. Renaissance being one of them.
She followed her senses to where the sound came from. It wasn't long before she noticed a dark wolf. The figure had a feminine build. She wondered why she had come to the western pack. Only one way to find out. She hoped the wolf wasn't hostile. But if she was, xane was only a short call away.
She got a little closer, now being able to see flecks of other colors in the coat. "State your business with the western pack..." she spoke, making her voice bold. She has seen many alpha introductions. She knew how to do it by now.

[bg=Black] | [bg=000022]Her sharp hearing picking up quickly on the footfalls of another wolf, she whipped around and growled lightly, a habit from when she had encountered other wolves, but stopped soon enough, her emotionless face returning. Her ears were up and her eyes were on the green wolf as she spoke. So this pack was the 'Western Pack'. That hinted to the sharp she-wolf that there were other packs. As the fern-green she-wolf stood in front of her, the midnight, black wolf appraised her. Zephyrine's dark, brooding blue eyes slightly narrowed as she looked. Not even quite full-grown, let alone of dominant rank. Was this truly worth her time? The fact that not even a fully-grown member of this pack could confront her somewhat annoyed the wolf. Zephyrine knew that she was being condescending, but it was in her nature. Her blue eyes looking straight into the other, smaller she-wolf's eyes, Zephyrine's prickly fur stood on end, and if you didn't know better, she looked rather menacing, as if she were ready to attack.
... Hackles raised, fur on end, but her face expressionless, Zephyrine took advantage of her telepathy. Hello, I suppose. My business is to join. she telepathically echoed into Zafera's mind, her tone flat, but curt and blunt, and quite gruff. Zephyrine could not remember the last time she had said a word, whether verbally or telepathically, and to her, her words sounded almost funny. Her eyes flashed as the smell of ozone entered her nostrils, and her black coat grew wet as a small sprinkle began to fall from the menacing clouds above. In the far, far distance, thunder could be heard. Zephyrine did not think this she-wolf had the authority to accept her, but looks could be deceiving. Very deceiving.
What shall you do, little she-wolf?

♦"Maybe I should call xane"♦ Zafera. The strange wolf seemed to have an appearance about her. She wasn't sure if it was a good or bad thing. She readied herself for an attack, the quills under her skin were preparing for a piercing. In time the wolf responded with wanting to join. Although her muzzle didn't move as she spoke. It all came from her mind, it must be a form of power. Ah, Uuma powers never ceased to amaze her. She shook her thoughts away as she needed to pay attention. Thinking about wolf powers were not where her mind needed to be.
"Joining?" she repeated. She knew xane would need to be here, she couldn't make the full decision on her own. "You would need to take to my alpha. Xane... I'm zafera, his... Daughter, if you will." she explained with ease. Her voice still friendly, as it always was. "Let me call him for you!" she tilted her head back and let a long howl come from her. When she finished she looked at the visitor, "He will be here in no time!"
The call was easily heard, as he was never far. "What is it now, zafera..." he mumbled. But even if he was busy he always made time for her. He began running through the forest to where he call had come from.

[bg=Black] | [bg=000022]Her eyes narrowed at Zafera as she spoke, Zephyrine merely grunted in response to her. Zephyrine was as tense as ever, perhaps even more so waiting for the Alpha of the West to come forth. From the way the young green wolf put it, the pack must have been well off if children were around. That was good for her if she could join, and for them. Zephyrine relaxed a little bit at that. As the rain fell, the black wolf contemplated her chances of joining. If all the wolves in the pack were as open as Zafera, it shouldn't be terribly hard. But Zephyrine knew well enough that her gruffness with others wasn't exactly charming.
... An ear flicked at the mention of the name 'Xane', the alpha of the pack. The she-wolf looked up for a brief moment as the rain stopped for the moment, even though the clouds looked as bad as ever. Shaking just a bit to get some rain of her coat as she stood with Zafera waiting after she had called Xane, the she-wolf's eyes only flashed slightly as she realized it hadn't taken long for Xane to come. Zephyrine caught the scent first in a low gust and then only somewhat distantly, the light padding of paws on the forest floor. Immediately becoming tense, her body tightened as she anticipated the Western leader's arrival, yet her face was expressionless as ever, simply staring ahead.
Hm...
