Usually about this time tag would be resting in the Sade. But recently he had discovered some new land. It wasn't exactly in the outcast land, it was close though. He walked through the plains, the summer breeze rippled the grass. It felt like he was walking on water.... Except he wasn't. He put his nose to the ground, he knew he would be getting closer. He had be able to sense other creatures that have passed through. But strangely enough, no other wolves. He had been out in the wild long enough to sense danger and know when he should get away. But he didn't sense anything nearby. And off to the cabin he went.
As he walked through the grass a trail was made from where he stepped. He neared closer to the cabin on the hillside. Once he got closer, he sniffed the ground again. He could smell a series of rodents, not good enough to snack on though. He peered in the window, spider webs, left over tin cups, a broken chair and a desk. It looked like it was inhabited with tons of dust and mice and rats.
[[ooc;; the italics are the chipmunk, and the bold is tag. They aren't talking to each other though...]] He walked around the outside of the cabin, trying to find a way to get in. He eventually found a door, he smiled. He pushed his nose on the door and it creaked open. He could hear tiny claws run on the wood floor. "Who the heck is coming in the cabin?! We haven't had anyone here since the darn humans left" a chipmunk came out of the shadows. Once tag made his way inside, the white wolf saw the rodent. He head it squeak. His ears perked up and his head tilted. "A chipmunk? How strange..." he took a step closer. "A wolf!? it squeaked again, "why is he even here? Most wolves don't come here... Nor any creature since the humans left..." the chipmunk crawled on top of the table to become eye level with the white wolf. Tag watched as the rodent got on the table, as if it were trying to get eye level with him, "Sorry if I'm I am intruding little guy... Just exploring..." tag explained. He watched the chipmunk turn it's head. "Exploring... Oh he is an explorer! So no need to worry..." in fact, the only word he got out what the wolf was whining about was exploring. He had often hears that word a lot from the humans. "My name is tag, nice to meet you!" he wagged his tail dust began to swirl around. The chipmunk coughed and waved a paw around, so he stopped. He looked at the rodent after introducing himself, after living in the zoo all those years he knew animals couldn't communicate with each other through voice. Every now and again they can pick up certain words and actions through charades. He looked around the room to find something to point out his name. He saw a bedroll in the corner of the room, he walked over to it and pawed at the tag on the corner. The chipmunk squeaked. "Such an interesting name... Paper... he watched the chipmunk run around the room. He came back with a small stick. "Stick? Is that your name? Stick?" he squeaked again. "Twig is the name! Nice to meet you paper!"
He had a very broken conversation with his new rodent friend stick. But he knew if someone were to come in and see him talking to a chipmunk, they might think he is crazy. "Well... I should probably get going stick..." he smiled and bowed his head before turning around out the door. "Where does he think he's going? I'm not finished with you yet!" the rodent ran up behind the wolf and jumped on his tail. He ran up until he was sitting on the space between his shoulders. Tag turned to look at him, "Coming with I see? Fine with me!"

As the first of the morning dew sparkled on the forage above and below, a single she-wolf slept, curled up against the leaning trunk of an aspen tree. Beside her, though several feet away, was her sister, a wolf of a completely different color, inside and out. The two were Calypso and Zey, the latter sleeping. The younger of the two sisters, Calypso, sat quietly, her hazel eyes watching the other female intently. Zey stirred in her sleep, but remained under, enough to finalize Calypso's plans. True, this was probably stupid, and without doubt, she would pay for it later, but why not take a shot at it?
Calypso stood slowly, her sleek red coat glinting as she did so. Ears pricked and eyes alert, the she-wolf turned slowly and moved from the trees, keeping her paws silent on the all-too-easily-rustled fallen leaves below. Moving out of the tree line, a safe distance from where her sister still slept, Calypso suddenly exploded into a gallop, running down the sloping ground that was thick with the weedy yellow forage. Her legs stretched far before her as the red wolf streaked across the land. Free. For now, she had no one to tie her back, no sister to tell her "no". For once in her life, she felt a taste of freedom and it was intoxicating. True, it wouldn't last long. As soon as Zey awoke, she would be back under her sister's tyrannical dominance, but for now, she could enjoy this.
Built for speed, Calypso practically flew, her limbs moving quickly and fluidly. Her lean form was long and with ears clamped against her narrow head, she moved somewhat like an arrow. This was thrilling.
She wasn't sure how long she actually ran for, but finally, the she-wolf slowed at the top of a hill's crest, her tongue lolling out, her ears pricked once again. She was exhilarated. As Calypso paused to catch her breath, her eyes caught on something down between the hills. From the looks of it, it was an old, rickety cabin, abandoned as far as she could see. The sense of adventure and curiosity filled the young female and without another thought she loped downwards, coming upon the cabin...

Tags' tail wagged slight. He now has a companion to tag along with him. It may not be a wolf, and it may not be the perfect hunting parter. But stick was still someone who chose to come along with him on his outcast adventures. "So where are we going wolf?" he heard his chipmunk squeak. He was still unsure as to what he was saying, but he is sure he would be able to pick up lingo along the way. "So what I was able to pick up, was that your name is stick... And you lived in the cabin" which was pretty self explanatory. As he found the rodent in the cabin.
He wondered what other wolves he would cross found him talking to the chipmunk. "Wait, did you just call me stick? My name is not stick!" he heard his chipmunk squeak fanatically. He looked around the plains around the cabin and noticed a red wolf. From the looks of its body shape, it was a female. And she looked rather curious. "Another wolf? Thanks for the warning!" he smiled up at his new friend. Completely unaware that his little friend was complaining about his name.

"Tag what trouble did you get yourself into now?"
From the top of the other side of the hill overlooking the cabin that Tag had agreed to raid while Ricochet looked around for something to kill for dinner, a fairly annoyed wolf named Ricochet started to lope faster down the slope. The fat rabbit that dangled from the male's slender muzzle made a thump as he dropped it to the ground close to his friend. The two males had became closer friends as the time as bachelor males had grew.
Ricochet looked closer at the she-wolf coming down the hill. She wasn't very large and was a bright copper colored red with a lean figure to her. The male glanced over at his friend and then did a double take, his eyes growing fairly large, "Dude What the heck is on your back? Is that like a ground hog or something?" He said getting closer and starting to sniff the fuzzy thing clinging to Tag's white coat.

Unaware of other quite close nearby, Calypso was finding herself in something of a paradise. Of course, anywhere without her sister's "rule" could be titled that. Having slowed to a walk where she could thoroughly explore the area, the she-wolf ventured nearer to the cabin, though she took her time. A craggy snag of thorn bushes grew in a snarled knot nearby, speckled with palid pink blossoms that were just beginning to open. Calypso's nose venture near to sniff and noted as she did that the area was not marked as another's territory. Then she was in no-man's-land.
Leisurely moving closer to the cabin's weather worn walls, Calypso stopped to look at everything that even remotely caught her interest; a tangle of wild flowers, a large black beetle scurrying by, etc. The world seemed brighter, taken with a new light of curiosity and delight. A lingering thought itched at the back of her mind. Maybe she didn't need Zey? Perhaps if she didn't return, this could be her entire existence? After all, she was only a few hours younger than her sister. Why did Zey have to be her ruler? Ah, but the she-wolf shook away the thoughts roughly. No, it just wouldn't be right.
Attempting to turn her mind towards the present and the freedom she indulged herself in now, Calypso moved freely again, her step a little bit more lively. The sun momentarily broke through the clouds above and shone brightly on her unusually colored coat. The warmth soaked into her hide and Calypso felt the corners of her mouth turn upwards in a smile.
Suddenly, something made her stop. Ears up and swiveling quickly, Calypso's nose twitched, taking in the scents. Just as she was about to continue about her way, she heard it again. Voices. This time for sure. And close. Moving with renewed curiosity, though forcing herself to be hesitant, Calypso's paws carried her in a round about way. She stood several yards from the cabin still, up a bit on the hill, though she was close. Two wolf forms stood conversing, one with a rabbit at its feet, the other with an unusual lump attached to its shoulders. Strangers...

"For the last time my name is not stick!" he smiled as he heard a squeak of replies. He was about to answer back but the scent of another wolf made his tail wag lazily. It was a familiar scent, it was his friend Ricochet. The two had met a while ago and had been together ever since. Two bachelor wolves in the wild. It couldn't have been a better time! When ricochet made his way over to tag he noticed a rabbit hanging from his mouth,"excellent catch my friend!" his tail remained lazily wagging.
He heard his chipmunk once again, "who is this guy?". He smiled when ricochet questioned the tiny visitor, "this is my new tag along buddy, his name is stick... I found him in the cabin!" he turned his head towards the cabin. Where moments ago he discovered a new power, but he still hadn't realized it yet. "And he isn't a ground hog, ricochet. He is a chipmunk... he laughed a little under his breath as he corrected the mix up.

"Ohhh.. Well he looks a little chubby for a chipmunk."Ricochet said smiling and cocking his head to the side to inspect the little ball of fur better. The chipmunk wasn't chubby, but in fact, Ricochet had never seen something called a chipmunk before. Furry and brown with a black stripe down his back and two white stripes next to the black one.
But his brow crinkled in confusion,"How can you talk to... Uhh... Stick? All he does is squeak." Ricochet drew back from the creature riding on his friends back. The male could only here a series of squeaks, some earsplitting and others small and 'pip' like. The thing looked like common prey to the large wolf, but if he was Tag's friend then Ricochet would put up with the little groundhog-chipmunk thing. The male looked to see the female closer than she had been before, but he was not concerned for her. Instead his brow was stick creased in confusion as he looked back at his friend.

I can communicate with those not of my kind. With someone like me. He could feel the small, brown rodent crawl around on his back. Making himself comfortable. He laughed slightly when he mentioned he was fat, they knew he wasn't. He was just at a loss of words. When he asked how he was able to communicate, he felt he was at a loss of words himself. Tag looked up at his bachelor companion, "I'm... I'm not sure how I can..." his eyes focused on the ground. Animals can usually communicate with animals of their own species. How was he able to understand pieces of what stick his new friend was saying?
Back in the zoo, he had made friends with a deranged old peacock. The peacock had learned many languages of the animals in the zoo. He spoke of a hidden power called the whisperer of many animals. An animal whisperer. Very few animals can carry this trait. Due to the fact tag had often spoke to the old bird. He probably was able to pick up on the power. He spoke to tigers across the habitat. Not every word was perfect. But they had the ability to have small conversation. Now that he thinks about it. Maybe animal whisperer was how he was able to communicate with a creature a faction his size.
He looked back up at ricochet, "I believe I have a special ability, not many animals have it... But I think I do..." he smiled. He had a power. He had something that was rare. He was an animal whisperer. That is how he was able to communicate with his new friend. It started to make sense now. I know there is more I need to learn. Maybe one day our words will become one.

"Remind me next time to bring a live rabbit for you to talk to."Ricochet said jokingly. He was certainly jealous of his friend and it was hard for him to hide it. The ability to talk to all other animals. Psh. No need for that! Or at least that was what Ricochet tried to tell himself through his jealousy.
As he looked back to the ridge were he had first saw the female he realized that the she-wolf had spotted them. Ricochet decided that this would be time to use his eyes to their fullest potential. He blinked a few times her image becoming clearer and clearer and the light around the two males dimming as if a cloud had flew in front of the sun. He had mastered this skill, and if the female wasn't friendly, he could use another of his magnificent eye's abilities.
The she-wolf looked to be fairly small with a vibrant copper colored red coat. She was pretty, and looked quite delicate compared to tough and tall Ricochet. He looked to his friend's new companion and then back at Tag, mumbling in concern,"Looks like she noticed us."

I can communicate with those not of my kind. With someone like me.Tag watched as ricochet use his light manipulating powers. He smirked and filled his eyes as he made his sarcastic remark. Maybe it was a sign of jealousy, but if it was he wouldn't say a word. He looked up the side of the hill and saw the rust colored she-wolf loose interest. She stopped where she was walking and decided to tuen back into the frost. Apparently two males standing and talking to each other wasn't enough to peak her interest. In fact, it probably wouldn't have. They were just shooting the breeze. A usual day. Oh well, the new visitor could've added some event to the day.
"It seems she had lost interest I'm us, my friend... Oh well" he shrugged. It wasn't a big loss. He looked over his shoulder and spotted his new friend looking at ricochet. More specifically, the dead rabbit. "I'm beginning to double think this idea of me following you..." he squeaked. Tag frowned, "don't worry, that wont happen to you. He will be nice! I will make sure!" he grinned and looked back at ricochet. He knew ricochet wouldn't harm a friend of his. I know there is more I need to learn. Maybe one day our words will become one.

"Well I must say that is a bit of a disappointment."The male replied back with a but of of a sigh. To Ricochet it was a huge disappointment. It was great to be a bachelor male on his own with Tag and... Stick... But the male had always been interested in settling down.
He was proud of himself. Ricochet had found the way to control his massive accidental killings. Kindness. Releasing alot of the younger prey and taking the elderly like he was supposed to in the first place. The male had been brought up to kill, no matter the age or kind. It seemed to work in a sense, and slowly he was seemingly conquering his bloody and misleading past. Tag had not yet known of this past, nor the fact that the male that had just caught his supper had killed nine wolves. It was a massive amount for any wolf, even the most bloodthirsty, to kill.
Seven. Seven. That was the number he had killed by accident. The first the pack was doubtful he had anything to do with it. The second and the pack had blamed it on a bad choice of prey by the hunting captain. The third was called pure idiocy and that the pup was taught to stay away from the water. Fourth, a unstable den.... Blah Blah Blah. The actions of Ricochet were only to be put together after his father was dead. By this time the brother he loathed was at the top and Ricochet was almost his meal.
The other two were from border disputes and the last... Well it was to be ignored for now and to never be brought up by the muddy blooded male. "Eat the rabbit Tag and then we need to figure out where to go. Plus figure out a proper name for your friend now."
[[OCC: Not my best...]]
